Both Jorge Lorenzo and Andrea Dovizioso's first taste of the Michelin rubber they will switch to in MotoGP next year ended in a pair of written off bikes as both men went down in big crashes at Sepang's turn three.

Lorenzo's Movistar Yamaha ended up being loaded into the back of a small trailer while Dovizioso's Ducati set fire to the trackside grass as it cannonballed through the gravel.

Aleix Espargaro also suffered a crash, but not as serious, going down at turn five where test riders Randy De Puniet, Hiro Aoyama and Colin Edwards all crashed in the first set of tests earlier this month.

Early reports state the rear Michelins are offering good grip but the front need some work compared to the Bridgestones, which are like Loctite. Due to contractural chicanery, no riders are able to talk about the test without having their pants pulled down.

All riders have spent three days at Sepang on their customary Bridgestones so are tired and a switch to different rubber is probably not the ideal things after 150-odd laps.
