Ya, totally right. They're going to stuff J. Roberts somewhere good because Dorna plays racing like reality TV. They need to get their US numbers up with a new hero.
I like him though don't get me wrong. I think he's got what it takes but he's clearly in a steep learning curve. For some reason Americans have a harder time with the GP cut-throat culture. Even Valentino got caught out on a little "let's be friends" fantasy Marquez / Lorenzo dished up for him.
I bet we'll see an American and an Australian get good seats next year from Moto2. Roberts needs to see that his getting swamped in Moto2 could be fixed with more power. He's American and Americans needs their 'more power' as a solution to most things. There's not a lot of hardware advantages in Moto2, but there sure are in MotoGP.

I have my doubts about Dovi coming back. Almost no one comes back after a year out. 93 is a freak. hate that guy. whateve. good for him.
Roberts is holding out for a better offer. He needs a Duc.

Well, he could serve the VR46 tribe by getting Bez on Petronas. They are most likely going to have two seats open... assuming Morbi goes to factory. For that second seat, MotoGP needs a US/UK rider... could be Roberts/Gerloff/Lowes... I think Lowes had his shot though and probably won't get another

I think Dovi could do well on the Ape, but only if they keep Sava for Dovi to help grow or Massimo guarantees that Dovi will be the primary and all that comes with.

That would be a sick burn if Aprilia goes w Mav over Dovi. But I think this is more of a bluff by Mav to light a fire under Yamaha. Vinales doesn’t have the mental fortitude to ride a sub-standard bike. Just look at his demeanor after the Assen race. Aprilia isn’t known for cultivating riders.

I don’t think Dovi is out of the game just yet. He would be a great pick up for an independent team (SRT or Tech3). Either of these bikes would suit is riding style. If he doesn’t get a ride this year then I can see him calling it quits in GP.

What are you serious? I love MotoGP, but the paddock gossip is hilarious. All these grown men commenting like a bunch of schoolgirls over their pin ups.

Ah, I think I understand - it’s not the behind-the-scenes drama you find upsetting, it’s the discussion about the drama…

that you’re discussing.

upsetting is your word about my comment about the gossip, speculation and the focus on personality cults. The racing is sublime. Trust you enjoy the display of riding skill as much as I do .

AHahaaaa Ya.
I think we all know it's not all just about riding and the incredible design / tech that we see on TV. There's a lot to guess about behind the scenes that makes winners.
Is it different in any sport? I don't really follow any other sport.

I think the American riders don’t have the killer mean streak to do well in MotoGP or Moto2, in the sanguine days of Rainey, Lawson, Schwartz and Robert’s….they hated each other and just went at it. The last American with that attitude was Spies, I think they way Mladin totally kept screwing with him in the AMA, toughened him up and gave him that mean streak, that led to his WSB championship in his rookie season. Foggy did the same thing to Colin, totally kept going after him till he won. Gerloff seems to be getting there though.

I wouldn't read too much into nationalities, a Frenchman winning, Italians and Spanish in the top positions. The jingoistic rhetoric doesn't apply. The Europeans have a much better pathway to motogp than the rest of the world at present.

I’m American and agree w you DCP. Americans have gotten soft and entitled esp the boomer generation. Half of America are ok with rigging the game to win it. And it reflects on our competitiveness on the world stage.

The generation that stormed the beaches at Normandy has gotten soft and entitled?

That’s the least coherent thing I’ve read this week. Lol. But good thing you’re injecting politics into a MotoGP discussion though - well done.

Lazy boomers, storming the beaches- come on get serious. There has been plenty of analysis as to why there is a lack of US MotoGP talent and its because the grassroots, amateur to professional route has to funneled via the European competitions. The US does not have the domestic structure to pop out ready formed MotoGP stars
