Interesting read. He mentioned a lot of good points. I only read the first one. I'll have to read the next one tomorrow, its bedtime. Thanks, Mark.

Good read, thx for posting this Mark! I did read both and there are a lot of good points and it's hard not to see some truth to these articles.

Mark I don't norm agree with your post or anti Rossi post. However the articles you provided was a good read. To a degree I can see why you dislike Rossi. You respect his accomplishments but detest his fans and the rider himself. But in all very good articles.

i cant wait to read installment 3. this is the answer to that foolish video series that was released recently.

did not know he was a tax cheat.

Yeah I liked the article. I think it most clearly explains people's issue with Rossi. Not the rider, but the Rossi ites. Though I do think that the Messiah complex is in full swing.

i notice the more he doesnt win the worse it gets. i see people going nuts on jlo right now last i looked he is leading 46 in points. if people really look at all the advantages the man has had all the stuff he has gotten away with throughout his career its amazing.

The one thing I do agree with is that we should be focusing on the future. Next year is going to be outrageous with MV on a Yamaha and hopefully MM gets his bike fixed. I hope JLo can get his head rapped around the Ducati quickly. I like watching Rossi when he is on fire too but MM has the potential to be 10 time world champion before he's 30. Other than the record for most Moto GP wins, he will hold all the records, at 22 his list of records is impressive now. Eventually time will raise people's opinions and all the riders will be seems as great.

I read some of the article, very well written, but the writer has assumed some key things along the way.

When he talks about certain events, and saying how Rossi hasn't lost fans and gained fans, he has no data to back it up, it is all based on his assumption.

It was a good read so far though.

Every young rider has the potential. But being able to stay within the pack over a decade isn't easy. There are a lot of variables, like rule changes etc. which can sometime affect one rider more than the other.

Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to knock down MM here, I think he is a brilliant rider, and he has an amazing team. The last race in Germany should be a clear indication on how great the Repsol Honda team is and how talented MM is.

A typical psych article stating the obvious to sell copy. Of coarse a LARGE segment of modern society derives meaning purpose satisfaction and identity from "sports" it's HUGE business. Billions of dollars are made off it annually. It's also very obvious that when Rossi hangs up his leathers Moto GP will be in a world of hurt, easily 1/2 of their current fan base will leave with him, bemoaning the fact won't help.
It is also very obvious that Valentino his a huge supporter of Grand Prix Motorcycle racing, and is putting his own personal resources back into the sport with his VR46 academy, un like others who went on to cars, or just retired to go fishing and count their loot.
So love him or hate him Valentino Rossi is Moto GP, and will have a huge say in it's future.

This article is about Rossi......is it really necessary to have a dig at another rider:confused:

rossi bots do it all the time. its a sick cult. see rossi crying today. we need communications in our helmets. boo hoo. seems marquez and crutchlow did fine with their plan. maybe if i had communication i wouldn't have pushed so hard in assen and fell.

always a damn excuse from 46 every time. guy is the worst

Did I mention any other rider? Motorcycle GP stars and champs have been switching over to cars since the days of Tazio Neuvalari, including John Surtees, Mike Hailwood, Eddie Lawson just to name a few. The guys I've seen that really give back to the sport are Wayne Rainey, Randy Mamola, Kenny Roberts, to name a few, Roberts was the guy that opened the school in Barcelons that Spain has so greatly benefitted from. Rossi has taken it to a whole new level.

From what I saw they did communicate and the sign said BOX and he ignored it. Silly to cry about it now.

yea the top 3 got caught up in the moment of racing, it was pretty awesome to see the honda team tactics and how much faster MM was going following that tiny dry patch.

also good article, but i worry about the sport when Rossi retires as he brings the fans even when coming in 3rd or below.
