ok let make something clear I lived in shelby twp for 8 years and michigan is a really good place to ride just check the upper peninsula, copper harbor even better the tunnel of trees, the problem that you have is that you are looking to ride a sport bike on the street and that my friend is not that fun in Michigan, get your self a multistrada or any type of touring bike and you will love Michigan .

michigan is officially taken over by harleys. literally 99% of bikes u see on the road are harleys

You right about that, but at the end of the day we all are motorcycle rider and we all share the same passion. there is 2 Ducati dealer in Michigan one is brand new,
there is a lot people riding Ducati and mv Agusta around Royal Oak. and the best part of michigan is that the police is so busy that they don't care about motorcycle at all. OP trust me Michigan is beautiful but Detroit is a .... hole. get your self a multistrada go to the upper peninsula and enjoy.

Hi Lance. Congratulations on your new job and relocation. Our dealership is only a few miles from the Pontiac area. Contrary to what a lot of keyboard cowboys will tell you, this is a great area to live.

There is actually some great riding in S'E Michigan...most just don't know where to go...and we like to keep it that way :) Don't want too many posers muddying the waters. Make no mistake, the riding is not nearly as good as it is out west or in the smokey mountains but believe me, we have some good fun. In addition to our immediate areas, a lot of guys will trailer (or ride) down to central Ohio which is about 3 hours south. Using that area as a base, there is some spectacular riding that will rival most any good road riding in the country.

There are a lot of good tracks within a 5 hour radius:
Grattan - Very technical, lot of elevation change
Gingerman - Freshly repaved, nice flowing layout
Mid Ohio - One of the best layouts in America, hands down
Pittsburgh Int'l Raceway - Very fun and fast shorter track that also has a brand new addition that ties in to the original track for almost a 4 mile lap!
In addition to these, you also have Road America, Blackhawk Farms, Putnam Park, Autobahn Country Club, Nelson Ledges and the new NCM Motorsports Park (National Corvette Museum)

We will be doing 3 track days next year and would be happy to have you ride with us. We are the #1 Ducati dealer in the Mid-West for 2 years running (we've been open 2 years). Our customers are great. We have a lot of fun events at the shop as well as off site. Many of our employees have raced at the club and professional level and we are complete gear heads :)
We have an on-site dyno and have built several race bikes, including one of the nicest 899 Panigales I've yet to see.

Again, congrats on the move and we hope to meet you in person once you're settled in. If you have any questions about the general area whatsoever, don't hesitate to email or call!

So I accepted a job up in Michigan, I'll be in the Pontiac area starting in January. I wanted to reach out to see if/where some good roads are to ride or tracks to do track days. I think I'm spoiled coming from New Mexico with mountains to get my fix and pretty temperate weather.
Also wanted to know if there is a good dealer network in the area as well.
Any other input on things to do/see is appreciated as well.
Thanks

-Lance

Again get a multistrada or any other touring bike, there is nothing for the panigale around you and please don't listen to people when they said "there is riding road around we just want to keep it secret LOL " I live in Michigan for 9 yrs and I can tell you I look everywhere check what I find.
1-Belle river road by Romeo only a couple turn full of gravel. good to check top speed while the cows and horses are watching you.
2- from hell and back : by hell Michigan is just a good looking country road but you need to drive like one hour, still not a sport bike deal.
3- M59 just a 10 mile road good to show off until troy police get you.
again get a touring bike and go to the upper peninsula and explore michigan

Detroit is the butt hole of Michigan
