aside from the mounting hardware; where are you guys getting the power from? will it draw too much from the charging system to run efficiently and will the bike start easily after use?

it would seem that one could use the same attachment wire as the battery charger? Or, do you plan to go to the fuse box directly or a hot wire to the lighting system?

Ideas and solutions, please.

thanks

Great Question!

Spoken to several Master techs and asked this same question brother. I am going with the GPS connections that will wire directly to battery. Was told NOT to mess with anything in this fuse box trying to hard wire it in. Therefore, what I will do is just wire it on battery like I do with my heated gear temp adjuster, and just ensure that I unplug or disconnect the device (whatever you decide to use) before turning off for the night. So essentially you are just using the power from a battery in use. Dont even ask me how one would do this with a lithium battery as I would be terrified to see the results of that. Still on fence if I will ever upgrade to one of these babies as I hear horror stories on them as well. ***Yes I know hundreds are using them without ANY issues but guess I am just too old school just yet!

for phone, i heard this was the best....

Battery Tender pigtail that the dealer I bought from installs on every bike they sell. No problems in over 3000 miles.

Old school, indeed... Def not messing with the Lion batteries either.

So you just snaked another wire under your plastics back to the pig tail? Seems ray enough. Which GPS/mount are you using?

I have a pig tail extension cable that I made. The Battery Tender pig tail clips into the left fairing and hides away there when not in use. When I have the GPS on the bike, I attach the extension and wrap it around the neck of the shock reservoir and then tuck the extension, run it under the seat trim and front edge of the seat and run it into the tank bag. I was using the Ducati tank bag and just putting the GPS (Zumo 660) in the clear pocket on top. I just got the SW-Motech Engage Sport bag with a Gadget mount on it and am using it on the 7 day riding trip I'm on right now.

It's not that I already opened a thread about that some time ago... ;-)
Anyway, if one of your mechanics could elaborate about the fuse box? Do they just chicken out because they are not electricians, or do have solid reasons not touching it? Just saying "don't" is never enough.
