at least a little bit. i'm no troy bayliss, but the simple addition of this filter with no other mods, remaps or ecu flashes gave me additional power i could feel right away, it is awesome. maybe more importantly, as this bike wasn't exactly underpowered to begin with, the MWR smooths out the operation of the bike, especially in the lower revs, where i often previously felt and sounded like i might stall at any moment (and often did, splitting lanes in first). don't know why ducati doesn't use this design at the factory.

i am a total mechanical noob, so i was clueless about whether or not this would really work, but i'd heard such positive things about randy at bellissimoto, and i figured $159 wasn't too much to spend on a $20 thousand dollar bike to improve the drivability. glad i trusted him.

Hey brother this is absolutely fantastic news to hear and glad you posted it. I cant wait to get my Tri back on the road and out there to see what sort of performance I obtain myself. I know there were some smart ass remarks about my difficulty installing this filter, and take them with a grain of salt. However, we had THREE mechanically inclined forum members trying to figure it all out and eventually did- but with no instructions AND having never done it before it was not as easy as people initially said. Sure, if you have done it once or twice it would be easy which I can understand, but if someone has never done it before I sure as hell wouldnt shame them for not knowing how to do it! That is just plain ignorant. :eek:

i have to say, i like to do most of my work myself -- keeps me away from the wife without having to go to the golf course ;) -- but i had this installed at Rockwell's since i got it right as i needed my first service done (i don't know how to turn off the light in the dash if i change my own oil). nick just threw it on for no extra charge, so i doubt it took much labor.
 
AHA. I thought you did it yourself brother. Did this dealer recommend anything as far as tuning your ECU for the filter at all? I know its been said by many (and on MWR site) that its highly recommended, but not sure what dealers are saying out there. Thanks for yoru feedback again!
 
they said only if my main concern is extra PS, which it isn't. i basically sh!t my pants when i approach 10,000 rpm, so not my main concern.

even though i've always had ducatis, my main ride last year was an s1000rr, so i have been missing the smooth drivability of the bimmer just a little. this improves the italian ``shudders.'' i'm sure extra tuning would help in that regard too, but not necessary for me.

from what i've read and heard on the street/track, if you're after better performance -- especially a smoother curve through the midrange -- you have to be willing to go full-on fugly and switch to ZARD or Quat-D system to delete the header loop. and that would look ridiculous parked in front of my local starbucks :D
 
MWR filter is awesome, maybe not so much in speed as in sound.
Back is the old Ducati BWRAAAAAAAAAAPPP :cool: when twisting the throttle wich i was missing with the OEM filter, coming from a 1098s

I hear what you're saying Gunny but honestly when I installed my MWR, that was the first time I had the tank off the bike. I have installed filters on other bikes but never the pani. FOR ME the filter installed in just a few mins. I had a more difficult time getting the fuel hoses back on. But again that's just me.

he had the whole tank off thats why. we were stubborn and did it with the tank raised. with the tank off you can just drop it in makes sense. how do you take the tank off if there is fuel in it though?
 
"Just drop it in" huh? dude you were right there and know as well as I do it was not that simple, even with tank off! I was waiting for one of yoos guys to comment here! LOL
 
i was right there and it was a major pia. i was wondering out loud if you could just drop it in with the tank off. i guess experience is a good teacher. i can tell you this as of right now if i were home and had the filter and it was just me doing it i wouldnt attempt it.
 
Before I did my install, I found this install video. It's not for the MWR filter but the process was the same. The only difference is the stock filter has the collapsible sides where the MWR does not. The MWR is a tight fit (getting it into the air box that is) but it does fit LOL. Yes I removed the tank completely. Yes fuel can be in the tank, although it's easier to remove if there's less fuel in it :)

You just unplug the fuel line and take the tank off. There is a check valve so the fuel won't come draining out when you take the plug off. . .

You mean you guys stood around the bike and held the tank in the air (like 3 inches) because you were afraid to unplug the fuel line ??? Thats pretty funny. ..

OEM quick connector. no spills, just a few drops.

Just open the gas cap and drop a match in and whatever residue there is will burn off. If the tank (and bike) is still there when the flames go out you should be good to go ahead and pull the tank.
