what do you think to the go pro cam and where you attaching too going on a big tour round scotland and fancy one for the pics/videos
thanks rocky

I have only had it a couple of weeks and have been impressed.
Providing you are not going to be doing more than 100 mph the I would stickit on theside faring
I should be posting a vid at the weekend so you can check it out

4K RPM? Is your dealer new to Ducati's. All the dukes I've driven barely work below 4K unless they are really well tuned and even then they kinda suck. I'm all for taking it easy for the first little bit but Bro you're way to conforming to the rules.

I'd be at 10,000 RPM 5 miles from the dealership. I'm not joking either:cool:

Agreed, factory run in periods have always been questionable to me. I have had plenty of cars that work more then fine after aggressive break ins...

I have to agree here - in fact I'm pretty sure that riding the bike below 4K does more harm than good. Lugging the engine is very hard on Ducatis.
Normal cruising RPM on a Testastretta is 5000 to 6000 RPM.

I'm pretty sure I hit over 120 on the first ride when I bought my SF :)
(but mostly I did take it easy for a period)

My tricolore had 600 miles on it so I never did adhere to any break-in procedures.

Congratulations! Now that they're starting to trickle in it's finally sinking in that they'll be here in the states, soon, too!

What can you tell me about that seat bag? Is it a Ducati specific one just meant for the Panigale?

My only concern with not following the break in is with all the electronics on the bike I'm willing to bet if you took it in for warranty work they'd know you ran it up over break in. If the dash automatically adjusts the redline during warm up and the break-in period, I wouldn't be suprised if it would tattle on you too when it goes in for service.

Heat from the Panigale

Wow, so would you say the heat is really intense?? I plan on wrapping heat wrapping around my exhaust pipes.

So finally I picked up my bike at 4pm today and immediately rode it for 100km it would have been more but it started raining 
First impressions
Well for me this is: the first Ducati, the first 2 cylinder bike, the first out and out sports bike
The dealer recommended for the first 100 KM not to exceed 4K RPM and then gradually increase by 500 revs per 100 km until reaching the 6K RPM limit that is the recommended by Ducati.
On starting the bike WOW what a sound I was not prepared for that, I think it will give some Harleys a run for the money FAN BLOODY TASTIC, and no smoke although the dealer said there could be some when starting cold during the run in period because of special oil being used during this period, I would of question this but I wanted to get my hands on the bike so I did not pursue it
When I got on to the bike at low revs it felt as if I was sitting on a machine gun (I am used to the smooth 4 cylinders), obviously the seating is completely different from my K1300s and it felt as if my head was over the front wheel, I am 6ft 3" there is no way I am going to be able to duck under that double bubble screen (option) I am also waiting for a comfort pilot seat! Having rode for about an hour however I did not find it too uncomfortable.
Moving out (sports mode) from the garage and making sure I kept it below the 4K my immediate concern was the fly by wire throttle it is not as responsive as my K and it is obvious that this bike needs revs, at tick over and up to 3 k it does not feel as if it is happy, nor the rider :) so running in is going to be frustrating
I hit traffic just coming out from the garage and the next thing to hit me was the heat coming out under the seat, it was 16 deg. ambient temperature here in Geneva and I believe this bike or should I say the rider will be getting very hot and frustrated in town traffic.
But getting on to the autoroute and being able to use the allowed revs (4k) it becomes smooth and a joy, the lightness of the bike is something else it felt like my old Honda hornet.
Off the motor way I found some twisty roads, it is so fickable it is going to be so much fun to ride once I have worn in the new tires.
100Km done only 900 left to unleash the beast
I hope to post some vids over the weakened but now I am going to have to wash it 

This would be a concern for me as well. My R1 was like sitting in hell. Especially on those 100 degree Texas summer afternoons.

Rear stand

For those lucky guys that have their new 1199, do they come with a rear stand?

If not will a 10/1198 one fit?

Thanks

I'm wither superfly.

Ducatis with standard gearing don't work below 4k.
a) you're gonna hate it
b) the bikes gonna hate it.
c) it's a stupid load to put on the bike.

Don't know if I'd hit 10k straight up, but I'd ride it like any other day on any other bike. 4k is ridiculous!

The only way under 4k might work, is if you dropped a tooth on the front.... and didn't leave the garage :)

Don't be scared fella. My 749 was run in at track days :) Never skipped a beat.

Enjoy it you lucky .......!

Hahahahaha funny one. You have to pay for freaking everything, even the Ducati keyring.

And yes the 1x98 stand works just fine.
Dealers differ in what they're willing to throw in for free.
Some will pay all the on road costs, some will throw in stands, or helmets or something else.
I'd certainly ask for it. They can only say no.

My Multi 1200 was terrible during break-in and afterwards below 4,000 rpm. I added a full Arrow exhaust and new ecu so could be mapped on the dyno. It was a totally different bike and ran beautifully from 1500 rpm to redline. I hope it doesn't take another $4K to get it to behave at lower RPM as well as add many ponies.

Well, if it's anything like other new release Ducatis it will stumble and surge at low RPM and it will cost a fortune to get it tuned correctly.
The Dealer will shrug and say "that's just the way they run - we can't help you"

People didn't believe me when I predicted the same for the new Multi but there are still owners of first year bikes that can't get the thing to run right.
It took me a year and many thousands of dollars to get my SF straightened out.

Ducatis have all been this way since about 06.

But sometimes they get it figured out, my 11 MTS runs perfect from the bottom to the top right out of the box and I wouldn't change a thing.
I just hope that will carry over to this bike (it does use the same ECU)

We will see...
