Hi guys,

last year, on september, i bought my first ducati : a second hand 1098. All started from this point : i discovered a pleasure of ride i have never felt before. But unfortunately after one track session, i saw that this 10 years old "lady" didn't like the track at all, or maybe with very high maintenance levels.

October : a month after i bought it, i decided to ask my dealership to take it back for a brand new Panigale. He did make me an offer i couldn't refuse, and after a loooooong time spent on internet and on this forum, hesitating between the base and S, i decided to spend the extra cash and get the S, and i definitely can say that i would never go back onto my choice on this point.

January 2017 : my Panigale is ready to get picked up, there we go on the road to the dealership, cold but sunny day, i don't really realize i will be the owner of a brand new Ducati. Signing some papers, quick briefing on the bike's DTC and let's go.

My first impressions on the bike were kinda weird, it was like i have ridden it for years, it is SO easy to drive that my ex 1098 looked like a track bike next to it. It feels easy, very safe, and definitely more versatile. I have heard people talking about how bad the Panigale 1299 was at low RPM, to me it is everything but bad at low RPM, my 1098 had a lightweight flywheel, and i definitely can tell you it was hell compared to this one !

February 2017 : 700 kilometers done at the moment, i have my first maintenance on Friday the 17th, and that's also where the first mods are going to get installed :

-SC Project S1 exhaust
-Marchesini M10RS Kompe Aluminium (Gold)
-Cycles Led Fender eliminator
-Comfort Seat

At the moment my 1299S has quite a lot of Ducati Performance parts, some are coming later, here are some pics of it :

More updates to come when the accessories will be ON, i plan to use the bike on track after the "brand new effect" will disappear, again thanks for checking my bike !

Best regards from France, Phil.

What a beautiful bike, Phil. Congrats! In my garage is exactly the same Bike :). But unfortunately with only 140 km ODO. I am bringing the Pani to the mechanics today to make some modifications before the spring. Photos later on. Ciao Piri

Thanks a lot Piri for your kind comment, i'm trying to get rid of the break in period before the warm temperatures come back, this way i won't overheat the engine and will be fully able to enjoy the bike for the spring / summer :)

Thanks again !

Phil,
I think the gold wheels will look fantastic. I am looking to put some Gold Magnesium Marchesini on my 1199. It will be the next big mod.

Well i do hope it won't be too flashy, but just in case i will keep the original ones !

Good shots! Wishing you the best with your 1299S. What was the 1098 doing or not doing on the track that you didn't specifically like?

Thank you very much. Well the 1098 brakes suffered a lot, after only 15 minutes of track i could feel a wobble in the front brake lever, i think the discs overheated. It didn't disappear. The engine started having some troubles also, starting on "one cylinder", or not starting at all sometimes.

Thanks again !

how much was it?

Pretty expensive. I bought a genuine part from the dealer and it was about $40 AUD.

You can get the same on ebay for 10 bucks. No one will know the difference.

what is the weight of Marchesini M10RS Kompe aluminio?

Good question, i didn't think about checking the weight, but i definitely can tell you that the standard S Marchesini wheels are light as **** ! I couldn't believe it when i had them in hands.

By the way i will post pictures and an update soon when the weather will be better, the SC Project exhaust and those wheels are a killer combo.

Awesome bike. I have a 2015 1299S. I remember the first time I rode it in the mountains. What a dream.

I added a full Akro exhaust, MWR air filter and a RapidBike module.

My only real complaint is the OEM cigarette box size radiator on the bike. (Okay, I'm kidding.) If you simply ride around the streets and have a good time , the radiator may/will/might be fine. If you race the bike, and beat on it like a rented mule, the radiator will struggle. Just keep an eye on your water pump.

Other than the radiator, WOW WHAT A BIKE!

Peace.

My complaint at the moment is that the bike is a LOT less brutal than what i would expect. Since i added the SC Project S1 exhaust (slip on), the bike runs lean, i ordered the Akrapovic headers that will come with the map, so i can keep the warranty and make the bike (i hope) run better. I will also probably change the sprocket.

About the heat i didn't know it would overheat on a track use ? And again, thank you very much for your nice words ! ;)
