Like those "rear" indicators a lot!

Thanks very much for including the part #. Damn considerate of you. I expect they will be my very next purchase.

Semper fi, Gunny!

Here to Help

Just wanted to thank all you guys for everything and say that if you ever need hookups on gear, wheels, service, or even a Ducati at a great price- send me a PM and we will discuss it all. I would be remiss here if I did not thank:

-David Lillard; Owner of Redline Performance Motorsports for EVERYTHING!

-All the guys at MotoWheels for their education and help with the BST choice

-All you forum members for motivating me toward pulling the trigger on this!

-My wife for choosing to "not know" what Ive put into this thing as long as she gets a few rides on the back. And of course the Lord for giving me the ability & strength to live thru what I have suffered and continue to remain a dedicated Ducati rider/racer/fan!

BOTM Award right here for sure. Congrats.

Did you or Redline weight the wheels for a comparison?

It was mostly me, but with help from the main tech doing my work. Keep in mind that the scale was a very antiquated old thing used to weigh boxes being shipped, not a precise instrument. I must admit I was a bit surprised at how little difference there was between the stock wheels and these BST's. I thought it would be HUGE! I guess you really want to know huh? LOL

Front stock wheel = 6 lbs
Front BSt wheel = 5 lbs

Rear stock wheel = 8 lbs
Rear BST wheel = 6 lbs

TOTAL WEIGHT SAVED = 3 POUNDS!

ps. By the way, what does BOTM Award mean? Is that good or bad? I think TOTM = Toolbag of the Month right? lol

For the 1199, I think you might want to consider the racing seat. The comfort seat looks better and is softer, but it tends to put the rider more forward in the seat - which is fine if you want to ride it like a streetfighter. The racing seat gives you more a rearward sitting profile, which means its more natural for a semi-tuck, allowing your elbows to be a bit more 'free' and loose (which is the way its supposed to be). The comfort seat looks better with the contrast stitching though.

Watch out with the CRG levers. The angle of the 1199 is a hair different than previous bikes. Such that the angle that aftermarket levers is affected. If it fits the way you brake/clutch - great. But it is not the same angle that previous Ducati's were and aftermarket levers may fit differently - so anyone considering, best check carefully. They will fit - just whether you like the angle that it sits at.

Did you buy your BST from Redline ? I believe they are now a dealer for BST.

Also, if you changed out to BST rims, did you also change out the rotors ? Or was this strictly an aesthetic mods ? Because the BST wheel change only saves like .75 and 1.3-1.5lbs. I think you will save more weight changing the rotors out than the actual wheels, so doing both will knock a bit off unsprung weight.

Negative

Hey Gunny did you go the ceramic bearings ??

I actually had a long talk about this with the rep from MotoWheels. He admitted it would not be any significant gain to this since the race is steel and ceramic bearings against steel is not the proper mix. You would have to hear it from him to understand more, since he is the expert and spoke in words I didnt understand. So the answer is no, I went with regular bearings after taking his advice.

Dude we can do the same for your bike too! Start making a list of things you want and I will hook you up with all my contacts for each of them to build your dream bike! Cool?

Here is what I have into the bike right now:

- Biggest addition yesterday was a set of infamous BST Carbon Fiber wheels! :D
- Comfort seat (DP) **serious must have everyone!!
- Carbon fiber rear hugger (DP)
- Carbon fiber stator cover (DP)
- Carbon fiber clutch cover (DP)
- Carbon fiber rear shock cover (DP)
- Carbon fiber DP fender eliminator kit with smaller LED rear turn signals
* Used a set of "front" turn signals off Multistrada, same as Euro rear signals
- DP extended windscreen with low tint
- CRG Anodized shorty levers
- The tiny carbon Ducati emblems on tank, tail section, and windscreen were purchased off Ebay as a kit with several of each size included.

What, no anodized cup holder for your carbon fiber Starbucks coffee mug? ;)

I am working on that as a matter of fact! Just ordered that awesome Carbonvani in the premier GLOSSY version! I am not a follower of the new matte finish, just seems too plastic and cheap looking to me. Will send pics of the cup holder and mug when mounted!

Damn, the bike does look good, Gunny.
I have had a set of the exact BSTs on my Speed Triple now for about three years (BST manufactured custom hubs to fit), and they totally transformed the performance of the bike (dropped 15 lbs of rotating mass). 1199 S and Tricolour owners may not notice a huge difference because our stock wheels are dam nice.
Gunny, let us know how they change your ride. Anyway, what I can tell you is that they still look like new after 3 years and 17,000+ miles.
Congrats for making her even more beautiful, rare, and yours.

Great news!

Many, many thanks my friend! It is also super to know you have had them so long and they still look so good. Ya think in 3 yrs they would change a design or two? lol. Yeah I have lots more stuff on its way for this bike! I wonder what the total is if I add it all up? hmmmmmm

Bro, how's the handling with them on? Noticable difference?

BST's

Bro, how's the handling with them on? Noticable difference?

I have to be honest. I dont feel a DRASTIC change in handling and or performance. Have not ridden it hard yet or on anything that would require quick throws from side to side, but it does feel a bit lighter and more "flickable" if that is a word? Like I posted, the change does not drop a .... ton of weight off the bike- but it does change the centralized inertia more.
I dont know when I should feel the biggest difference though.

I kept my stock wheels to either put back on bike when the times comes I get too old to play with rockets, or for track wheels and tires. For anyone who has felt stock wheels off the bike (without tires) you know what I mean- they are VERY VERY light now which is awesome! I am cautious about getting these things dicked up. Everyone loves the look of carbon wheels and I must say I love the glossy (wet) look of carbon MUCH more. hence the reason I just ordered every other piece of carbon for this bike in glossy version, and having a great bike painter clear all the matte stuff for me with some special inclusions in it. Will show this and all the rest when its mounted.

Thanks all for compliments and questions. To me, it was a much better purchase than a full system on the Tri Colore!

Nice mods! lol, re: pegs. "Happy wife, happy life". I have yet to see a picture of a wife on the back of a Panigale. Come on folks!
