Came across this photo today while going thru some old external hard drive pics. It was a 1996 Supersport I bought new from a legend in the east coast Ducati business. Has anyone heard of "......" who ran New York Motorcycles for many many years and is a true New Yorker and former NYPD cop? If so you know what I mean by legend. :D

After purchase I had other legends (Bruce Meyers and Kyle Thompson) from the original BCM Motorsports in Laconia, NH put a 944 kit and 42 mm Keihin carbs into it with several other mods too. It pulled like a friggin freight train! Of course the paintwork was done by Sean at Connecticut Cycle Refinishing and each of those "decals" were hand painted on from stencils and you could not feel any ridges on entire bike. Its too bad you cant really see the metallic sparkle inside each color too.

Just thought I'd share this with you guys.

It just did that on its own Phil.

Note- I made the mistake of having many parts on this bike polished which was a horrible decision! Way too labor intensive to maintain! It hurt when I traded this baby in on the purchase of my Corse, but hurt even more when i was informed it was wrecked and later parted out by the owner. :(

Ironic

I didn.t know the Supersport had a heat issue?

Funny you mention that issue. Has anyone else received a survey from some organization called Irwin Broh Research about their latest bike? When asked to provide any comments at the end of it I let them know that this was a very prominent topic ( Yeah yeah, I know what the running joke is - what heat?) that should have involved much more R&D when deciding to change the exhaust location, and their "fix" for it is lame. Im sure these results and comments go into the trash but who knows.

Got it today

Great bike Gunny! I see the Tri colors got you way back then... Did you race her?

Her? lol

No I did a track day on it and it wasnt really setup for that. Also had a 944 racebike only which I did race, but that was TOTALLY done up for track only. Nothing compared to my 748R though!

No clue what ya mean there man. Hey, what does XIXCIX mean btw?

I was laughing at his comment. It did make me laugh.
And I've a pic that does the rounds, where I had long hair. It doesn't look anywhere near as cool now in pics as it did back then :)

1199 in Roman numerals...

He is talking about your awesome Marine hair cut. :D

I dont know how you had the time to race. I can barely stay in one place for few months before I'm sent to back out.

it'd be much "funnier" if SoftyFire could make these comments in person.

but i actually dig the marine/taxi driver look...

and hey G you remember another "......" over at GHOST MC? that was way back in the day...\the joke was when you see the Ghost truck make sure you're bike's are locked to something....Ghost always had incredible bikes though.....

Legends for sure!
Back in 1997 I took my first Ducati, a 916, to BCM when Kyle was a young fellow being mentored by Bruce. Now at Seacoast Sports Cycle, Kyle has worked on my subsequent Ducs, including the R for its recent first service. For us it's a ten hour drive each way to near Manchester NH and it's totally worth it! Kyle learned from the best.
