Needs more power :-\

Turn off the TC, put it on 195hi, get to full lean on a corner and get on the gas ass hard as you can at 9k rpm comint out. Next step learn how to drift.

Please send me a picture of you with your knee on the ground, the tail sticking out and giving us a thumbs up! It will instatly put it on my wall paper.

Haha I'm not quite that vicious yet, tho I was damn near doing that @ my last track day.

My rear was so melted I was sliding all over the place, I actually went up with my tc to 4 to calm the rear down because my front tire couldn't keep up (and yes I'm loading up the front going into corners, I'm on the edge of the tire). I don't mind wiggling and sliding my rear a bit but when your front is sliding that's not something you can ignore or even play with lol.

I will try some slicks before the end of the season, set of track wheels are on my list ;)

btw, I'm very comfy riding with no tc and do sometimes...I believe in man over machine, not the other way

Saw you out there at the MCRA event on that Sunday, was wondering who's Panigale that was. We split after it started raining, I was riding in the I group with my buddies since they didn't want to ride in A that day and I was breaking in my engine. I don't care for that track much personally, a couple turns are fun, like turn 3, but I hate that wall on the straight. I'd say if you're in the A group after 2 track days, SLOW DOWN, you're about to have a horrific crash! ;-)

Before anyone says that the 1199 doesn't have enough power they need to be laying down the fastest laptimes at wherever they are. If I cared that much I would ask to see Ducenzo's laptimes at his trackdays compared to the racers on slicks.. I find it hard to believe a new trackday rider on a stock Pani with stock tires is going to be consistently faster than a racer on a built literbike with good slicks. Not calling you a liar, as anything is possible, maybe I am wrong.

It's not power it's lacking rather it's low end torque. We've been so used to the gobs of torque the older bikes had in the low revs which is what I love about the Ducs. You have to spin up the superquadro quite a bit to have access to all that power and torque.

Which is why for street riding I prefer the older bikes. However, has anyone yet tried a quick turn throttle and gearing change on the Pani to access the power a lot qucker?

I think that would be F^@&nk Nuts!

I don't think it would be a good idea to change the gearing on this bike. Anything over 8k rpm would be really hard to control.

Why would I want to trade my 1098 with its instant acceleration in any gear. I don't have to think what gear am I in when passing -it just happens. Just wish Ducati would not make such changes without taking into account that we love low down torque

Show down?...how do you slow down at the track? I ride like that at track so I don't have to do it on the back roads anymore. since track days my street riding has toned down immensely...trust me I used to ride just as hard on my favorite 26 mile stretch of pure combination twisties, where I developed my skills over the yrs.

Btw @ my last track event I was forced to tone it down a bit only because my tires deteriorated so much it wasn't safe or fun anymore...HPT does need a bit of repair tho, there's cracks in the tarmac and even the braking zone for turn 6 had grooves lol. I love turn 3, 7 and opening it up exiting the tight turn 8 & 9.

track days and track schools are great investments, but I've also proved that there's a small percentage out there who's been killing the good ol back roads a and can hold their own on a road course. The instructor literally told me there's nothing he can teach me and let me loose..said keep doing what your doing and watch out for traffic ;-) .

I'm skipping the next track day in August because I'm riding to Indy, but my next will be late Sept. I have a new GoPro and will actually rent a lap timer do see how I'm doing. I hope to experiment with some slicks too, I'd also love to try a different track.

^^^ +1

I've raced in AMA nationals with less power. Bostrum is impressed with the motor....and he's raced WSB. If you need more motor, get a license, get more motor, and go represent your country well as a racer. You must be faster than I ever was, 'cause I certainly don't need more motor.

Seriously. Go race. You might be one of the few who has the reflexes, sense of speed, and outright balls to be a professional racer. From your post I can already tell you have the bravado....and before you think that's an insult, every professional racer I've ever met worth his beans had a sense of bravado and extreme self confidence. I've raced with hundreds of 'em and met thousands.

In the words of Rob Schneider from "Waterboy", "You can do eeetttt"

Simple - take the bike to a dyno or two and if the bike show more than 160RWHP, you are a good rider and the bike handles power well.

Generally any vehicle that feels like it needs more power has a well balanced chassis/suspension/brakes. Motor is usually the last thing needed.

Track days can give you a lot of information, but until you are matched up against guys on similar bikes and a strong desire to win, it's hard to say for sure. Go club level race once and see if you still think you are that fast.

What are your lap times?

If you are that fast, race a lot more.

I haven't taken my 1199 to the track yet. I'm pretty sure I would burn up a full set of tires in a day or less.
