I'd go for the 1199 SL, but honestly, can you go wrong with either. 1st World Problem! Lol

SL is a numbered bike the fugly edition isn't.

Being numbered or not doesn't really matter, they will both continue to depreciate. I would take the bike that is the better machine over the "collectability" of one over the other. Buying a bike as an investment or because it is rare, numbered or collectable will always lead to disappointment.

For me SL but the FE would do.
But not that I will have either anyway, in Australia they will be big dollars for a long time.

if you want just the name go for the SL but if you are really planning to track the bike. I would say the FE has the better package.

Agreed, FE 209 BHP 105 TQ 395 LBS, New technology, warranty vs 1199 SL 200 BHP 98 TQ 390 LBS

The FE weights 3kg less too, right?

The R/FE weighs 15 pounds more than the 1199SL.

For me, they're not close. I like the R/FE but I bought an 1199SL over one and would do it again. But really, having both would be kind of cool.

I'd like to see dyno numbers at the rear wheel for each. In any event I wouldn't be surprised if the crank numbers for the FE are overstated and the SL are understated. Plus, the FE exhaust is much more restrictive than the SL exhaust.

the SL comes with the same cans as well but also gives you the race exhaust.
The race exhaust is planned to come out early next yr and once that is slapped on. Not only will you lose weight but add a bit more HP.
The FE will talk away from the 1199SL at that point if it doesn't already.

I've been going back and forth with this choice over the last month! Don't even know which to vote for. The SL still costs quite a bit more, like 10-15K more.

I as well have been going back and forth on this exact topic. No doubt the SL wins hands down for Swing Factor. The Carbon bodywork is pure exotica! And looks better then the Circus clown color scheme on the FE... Think it all ends right there.....
the SL still costs quite a bit more.... for a 4 year old USED bike With NO WARRANTY. The FE is more advanced in every way. It's NEW, has a full warranty, and option for a 5 year warranty.

For me (picking up my FE next week) it came down to buying a better, more advanced bike, with a full warranty, for less money.

I think these FE's will dramatically effect the value of the 14 SL's on the market.
