Sorry too late to send pictures as the original one has been returned to Ducati now.
So with no physical evidence all I can tell you is side by side they are different, the rear loop is slightly longer, curve on the forward pipe is slightly tighter and the sections of large diameter pipe are shorter before they taper.
Hope that makes sense? I thought they were the same on the bench until the tech showed me by lining them up together. Subtle changes but changes. Heat shield is totally different of course.
Would surprise me that Ducati sent out a second whole system if all it needed was a heat shield change. They requested the dealer not fit it and wait for the new complete system if I was ok waiting the 3 months for the new version.
Guessing its the new R version, given the original feedback on the manifolds I'm not surprised they've tweaked it a little here and there as well as flowing the gases for the extra 500 rpm of the R?
Whatever, the combination of changes as transformed the ridability with my level of skills
Just a thought, could the changes as minor as they are in your description be about keeping the exhaust from melting the fairing as they do.
It just seems strange that Ducati would suggest you not buy the item in stock and wait for them to produce and deliver another item because it may give you more power. I could be wrong but it sounds logical.
