Hello to all. I'm a new member on this forum and as the title states I'm from north Dallas. I have been riding since I was 4 years old so I'm over the 40+ years mark. I have always bought bikes which appeal to me in some way and I've enjoyed them all, if but only to stare at.

Here is the list of my Ducati's:
1986 Paso 750 - 1990 Desmo Paso 750 - 1994 Desmoquatro 916 - 1999 996 - 2004 998 - 2007 1098S - 2008 Desmosedici D16RR - 2009 1098R Bayliss LE, 2014 Superleggera, 2016 1299 Panigale S.

At 47 I have found the 1299 Panigale is by far the best riding and handling of them all. Some were pure art but a 2x4 between the legs and horribly twitching out of turns. And Ducati's used to fall apart like Ferrari's back in the day. I mean soon as it started up something rattled off and broke. But the last decade or so they have stepped their game up so significantly it's undeniable.

I love to ride and my wife says that my bikes are my only mistress that she approves of. I've recently started getting back into the gym and exercising every morning and eating much healthier to lose weight and get back some of that energy I've been losing as I get older and I gotta tell you it's working and I'm already noticing results. Thanks to my wife who's a little gym rat.

I enjoy meeting down to earth passionate people who love bikes in general. So with that, it's a pleasure to meet everyone and I look forward to seeing you in the forum.

Thanks and ride safe.

Welcome to the forum.

Hit me up if you're going to the CMRA race in Cresson this weekend. I'll be there.

I'm not registered but I might head out there, my son wants to watch everyone race so it's a definite possibility.

Welcome. So you think the 1299 rides better than the SL? Really? What makes the difference for you?

For starters the SL is far more track focused, more of a scalpel. And the Ohlins suspension has to be dialed in for me. The 1299 S has the active suspension, you can adjust the setting yourself if you feel you need to but the pre set positions are pretty good from the factory. The 1299 S is much easier to handle and live with on the streets and it's mid range is awesome, no more stuttering and puttering from a stop light. The SL is a monster that I love but she wants to be at the track leaned over on a long sweeper doing 150 mph. She dives in so quickly it's amazing. I also put on the comfort seat on the 1299 so it's slightly more comfortable. And I've gotta tell you the factory titanium exhaust is loud enough, loud enough you won't not be heard or seen but the Akrapovic race exhaust on the SL is unbelievably loud, like MotoGP in the pits loud. It's intimidating to say the least but I love it. But again for everyday life the 1299 is far more easier to live with.

The SL is the kid inside you that's scared and excited but you've still gotta have it.
The 1299 is the man in you saying this bike is awesome and I can handle her.

Welcome, there are a couple of FaceBook Ducati groups that I participate in. As mentioned earlier, the Ducati Garage and then the Ducati Dallas Club based out of the Allen area.

The later is more of a riding group, riding north of McKinney, Sherman area most Saturdays. We ride a nice pace, but not stupid fast.

I just took my CMRA race school this past Friday and did the ultra lightweight endurance race yesterday.

If you like to ride the street, maybe do some weekend Arkansas rides and want more info on the Facebook group, pm me your email address and I'll send you an invite.

That's surprising. My 1199 s Tricolore was much smoother than my 1299s. I thought the SL would have mirrored that more than the 1299. Interesting. Still envious though; would love an SL. :)
