Anyone seen this new hypermotard-styled bike from MV Agusta:

What do you think of it? Looks like it's going to be an 800cc and 3-cylinders. I wonder how it will stack up with the HyperMotard?

I would've thought it'd have the 675 cc triple as in the F3 and the F3brutale.

I had a 910 brutale, fun bike, but have serious doubts mv agusta will be in business for the long haul. My friend had just got an F3 a couple months ago and it was plagued with problems. Far worse than any of the pani issues.

Didn't HD invest heavily into them? Has this helped or hurt the MV brand?

HD once owned them but divested their stake several years ago. No idea of current ownership structure but the original family is now involved.

this is more less what happened. Some years ago MV was hugely in debt, again, HD wanting access to an established dealer network in europe at which to sell HD bikes (I know it's crazy and wonder what MBA came up with the idea).

HD bought MV, paid off all the debts and put money into it. Then the economy tanks, HD decides they don't want access to the euro dealer network. MV, once again debt ridden, is sold back to the castiglioni family for one euro, as part of the deal, HD paid off all the debt and threw in 25 million euro cash.

All that, and STILL MV is back to being heavily in debt and on very shaky footing. I wouldn't touch one, tho they're by far the best built bikes out there with good quality components, above ducati in quality and aesthetics but not quite up to bimota level.

Last I heard Claudio Castiglioni purchased MV back from HD. But he passed away last year so not sure who technically owns the company now? Nice looking bike though. It would be cool if the production version actually looked like that.

His son owns it now. I wanted an F3 D'Oro for the longest time. The weekend before they released it I went to see one at the dealer in the flesh. Its nice and sounds incredible but it's far too busy in its design. On the way back from the MV dealer I stopped by the Ducati dealership and saw the Pani for the first time...... smitten :D

Wow, I had not known any of this - thanks for the history lesson!

looks too futuristic and plasticky....wonder how it will look in the flesh though...
