I just got one of these and when I opened the box the first thing I looked for is the difference in the foam type where the "MWR" text is. See below a cut and paste from their advertising.

More & bigger surface means less restriction and better protection. The secret in
the new style filters is that they use two different kinds of foam materials. The part
where the logo is printed is foam material used for our roadbikes, the rest is the
foam material for the full racefilters, placed to create the same effect as the
splitterplate on the “HE” & “R” filters.

I cannot see any difference in the foam from the front piece or the sides. I am not saying there is no difference. But you cannot see it with the naked eye. I really expected to see a different "kind" of foam.

Next stop the dyno. My 2 cents.

If you cut them in half long ways you would see it. All filters like this are like that.

Don,t think I will be doing that. But will take your word for it. Have you actually looked at one of these ?

Took it outside today and looked up thru it at the light and could see f##k all difference. They must measure the difference in microns. Its a lot more porous than the foam filter on my Berg.

I am sure it will flow more air than stock. :)

I have not but ive seen a pic of it. When im back to my pc ill find it and post it.

I am impatient to get to the dyno still have not been back since fitting the akra and so want to see the difference and get the tune done. Had an operation on my arm so no riding at the moment.

One step closer. I fitted the MWR new race filter. I ended up putting some extra tape on the two tabs where is locks in, just to keep it from coming loose. I can see it will need more regular cleaning. i was surprised the OEM one had so much crap in it after 2 1/2 years of use.

Have dyno booked now for early January so will be interesting to see how the Akra and this mwr all goes from stock.

Brad
So are you saying MWR have update their Panigale filters (materials used and overall design) compared to to say, last year?

I only found it because Phil put up a post about cleaning his. He added a link to the new one which is on their site. Bellismoto have it on their site too. I bought one from them.

The new one does not have the splitter plate. And has a bigger foam surface area.

I have attached a pic of the new version fitted into the bike.

I know I will now have to clean it way more often. Dyno early January.

Thanks Brad for this info

No problem. Will post my dyno results when I get them. It will be a combined effort though and the result will show the difference from stock air filter and stock exhaust compared to a custom tune boy map with full akra and this filter.

I must admit I was surprised with the amount of crap in my OEM filter. We all probably need to clean them more.

I think perhaps a corse filter up wind somewhere would help with the big bugs etc. I had the remains of some moth in mine.
