Hello Everyone!

I've been getting to know my new (to me) 899 over the weekend... it's awesome :p However it has the race seat, great for it's intended purpose, but not so much for extended runs that I'll mostly be doing. Does anyone fancy swapping for a comfort seat?

Anyway, here she is, looking forward to reading more of the forums :)

Thanks for the picture, I'm pretty shocked about the missing chicken strips on your rear tire..
 
The comfort seat is the same thickness/profile as race seat just with different surface.
The Stock is worse.

i found it the other way, stock seat was horrible, race seat is best.
 
Surely the comfort seat is a softer compound? My butt is literally bruised :O
I'll see if they have one I can try at the dealer.

Race seat more foam but its firm. You have to get used to it and the narrow knee area IMO

PA has been his butt 'trained' for a long time. His coach is ARSEHAMMER.
 
I had the same problem. The comfort seat helped a bit, but having my suspension setup made a night/day difference.
 
Congrats on the 899 and welcome to the forum. For me the comfort seat was the way to go as it eliminated the prison bum.

Edit: Just to clarify, I went from the stock seat to comfort seat and did a 2000 mile trip with it and my bum faired pretty well.

I still remember doing a full day ride shortly after getting my 1199 with the stock seat(which is actually worse than the 899 stock seat.)

The comfort seat was a night and day difference.
 
Er... Comfort seat = Race set. What covers it isn't going to help.

So, those that miss the part where he mentions he has the race seat and saying what a great job the comfort seat does is totally misleading the OP.

Yes, both the comfort & race seat is a great improvement over the stock seat from the 1199 era and a good improvement over the 899/1299 change. But if he's complaining about the race set the comfort seat is not going to help.
 
on my 1299, I went with Luimoto seat cover and gel insert. I sent my seat to them and had it done. It absolutely rocks and was worth the $$$ and it looks fantastic. Excellent customer service.

Problem is youve not spent enough time on the stock seat lol Get a stock seat and ride for an hour or so and you'll thank god for the race/comfort seat.
