I called TechSpec recently, inquiring about their product(s).

It seems they have a new choice of material...
"Clear"

I requested a sample.
They sent me a few.

Here's a comparison video:

Here's what it looks like on the gas tank...

(Please note: Due to adhesion properties, they said that the clear is ONLY for the gas tank.
The upper part of the side fairings (knee area) will still utilize the black snakeskin.)

If I'm violating any copyright laws or infringing on any company's stuff, let me know,
I'll remove the vid and pics.
Damn internet liability crap makin' me all paranoid.

too bad the adhesive sucks -- i installed my tech specs yesterday and they are peeling :(

Thanks for posting and the video review, very effective communication. Did they say when the new clear material would be available? I had Tech Spec C3 on my last bike and liked it very much.

The representative I spoke with (Emily) stated that they 'just got it in'.
I guess it's ready for ordering.

I didn't wipe my tank (that had been waxed) with alcohol.
I simply applied to see what it would look like.

The adhesive is definitely not super-strong, like S.G. brand's.
I was able to peel the swatch off easily.
I played with it a bit- applying/peeling off a few times.

While not as sticky, it looks like it would hold up OK.
I think careful application would be in order.

Perhaps a thorough wipe-down with alcohol, then applying product,,
then letting it sit overnight to allow adhesive to 'set'.

Velcro is like that.
I have found that letting it sit for 12 hrs before use really keeps it 'stuck' in place.

I just received my TechSpec Gripster today, as I am off to Willow Springs Thursday and Friday. I haven't installed it yet, but am now nervous about putting it on and not completely sure I like the look.

I put mine on last year and they started to peel shortly after. I emailed Tech Spec and sent them a pic. They sent me a replacement set, no questions asked.

i just spoke with emily and she said to take a pic and send it to her so they can replace the side of mine that's peeling. nice.

the difference between riding with stock pegs and no grips, and then adding knurled pegs and tech specs, is honestly night and day. the increase in control and decrease in lower back and wrist destruction is a welcome change.

I have the black snake skin on my Tri and they work well. Not as good as Stomp but the fit and look are much much better.
