I recently bought a 2013 1199s with 6500 miles, and have tons of questions for those that know a lot more about Ducati than I.
First and foremost being since its winter, and I'm unable to get much riding, I've been looking at stands to get the tires off of the ground to keep the tires from flat spots. Any suggestions as to brands? I've found a few possibilities on Amazon that won't break the bank.
Second, after watching a few videos on youtube, is it really as easy as it looks to adjust the chain at home with the tools I have ordered, or should that be done at a dealer?
Lastly, (for now) are the hex heads metric, or SAE. I may need an excuse to buy some more tools...
Thank you in advance, and sorry for the long winded first post

Pitbul is the best value, imho.

Metric fasteners. I prefer ball head allens.

Your owners manual will show the spec and method for the chain tension if the sticker has been removed from the swing arm. Shoot for the loose end of the tolerance.

hello and welcome mate!

I have a 2012 1199 that i purchased a little over a year ago, and have put on almost 18K miles since!
freaking love this machine.

Have had to replace the slave for the clutch (you may feel some change in engagement point and fade, this is caused by air in the line. Seems to come from the perch on the bar, but the oberon slave did improve this quite a bit.

Had to seal the push rod oil leak with some yama-Bond.

Had oil get sucked up into airbox recently and blew over the left side of bike, fixing this with the upgraded kit you can learn about here if needed: 1199 1299 engine breather recall or upgrade

the chain tension is def something you can do yourself, very simple mate.
I use pit bull stands, but they are the most expensive, remember you need the pin that fits our rear axle.

Good luck and reach out if you have any other questions or needs. Lots of good guys here on this forum!

Congrats and yes it's extremely easy, even for a novice, to adjust the chain on these bikes once you have a stand. I too recommend PIT BULL stands they are a great investment.
