New v4 22 upgrade from Ducati

Help Support Ducati Forum:

Just had info from my buddy at a Ducati dealer… it’s a nominal charge unless they are working on your bike for something else then it’s free..

I presume this updated software is factory default for 2023 PV4 bikes and via DDS by dealer for a 'nominal charge' or as 'free' service to the 2022 model-year only?
Fazit: NOT available for 2021 or older PV4's, am I right?

Anyway, don't care too much.
I already had the Evo2 update loaded into mine and this update is a very fine evolution for smoothness and handling, making my 'original' 1st gen PV4 feel perfect as it can be. :)

You noticed a big difference with the evo2 update? Track or street? Slicks?

I ask because I thought most people reported a relatively small difference.

[offtopic]Same as most confirm in Evo2 link:
- DTC is less intrusive on track corner-out,
- DQS smoother, especially noticeable in low revs on street,
- speedo unrestricted beyond 299kmh,
- in-dash rev-dail compacted vs linear in low-rev range.
- small stuff

I do all my riding -street and track- on street oriented RossoCorsa2[/]

For me, the Evo2 does offer relatively small improvements. But, if you're I'm the fast group on track, you'll probably want it as the DTC is too invasive. Even in the lowest setting.
Even then, the improvement is marginal. But, it is an improvement.

Updated my bike to the 2023 software. They did it during the service light reset (which is a scam for which I’m filing an FTC complaint). Cost $40 or 15 min of work time.

Took the long, twisty way home. Saratoga Rd up to Skyline and then north up Skyline. My first impressions:
  • Bike sounds deeper
  • Initial throttle input is smoother and more sensitive (before there was a weird kind of “hesitation” when you first applied throttle)
  • More burble on deceleration off-throttle
  • EBC is gentler especially at level 3
  • Part throttle low-rpm shifts are significantly improved
  • Part throttle medium-rpm shifts are sublime
  • Haven’t dipped into DTC

Iirc, there were different software upgrades available previously - ambiguously designated “Evo2” and “EVO 2” maybe?

Is the 2023 software update an “Evo3” or some other designation or just “2023 update”?

just enquired with Woolich re doing the ecu upgrade release by ducati 22-23 this is the response I got..

Sounds like Ducati is using some of Bren's strategies... I will email Chris and see if I can get an update from him. His tuning is night and day better than any stock file I have had on a BMW, Duc or Ape- race or not.
