In working on my QS issues, I was browsing NHTSA's site to see if they had any documentation about QS issues. I didn't find anything but I did stumble upon some manufacturer communications, which are documents Ducati puts out.

A dyno procedure for the Panigle V4. Spoiler, they say to run it in 6th gear.

Info on EVO 2.

The last is a MotoAmerica Race Kit for the V4R. You have to have a racing license and a certified tech on hand for training. Might be out of my budget. :(

I’ve seen the “kit”. It’s basically a cobbled together SSTK kit. Personally for the money I would just get the whole Motec setup, it’s a lot better quality with support. Not sure why Ducati even released that, no one is riding that bike in the series and the ones that were, were on MM kit anyhow which is quite a leap forward.

Is that how expensive it is? If I remember right, the Motech kit started at $18K and only went up from there.

I’m speculating based on past experiences. The Motec kit price from SBU is crazy. Cal Motec for the component pricing.

I think my problem is purely a ECU software thing. I had the typical rough shifts when the bike was new but by the first service it was fine. Then after the first service, only the downshift fails. Intermittently, but probably 90% of the time.

When I do with the DQS test, the voltages I get are almost exactly 57% of what they should be and the test fails. I'm guessing something with an update they did f'd it up. My Cordona QS does the exact same thing, so its not the actual shifter.

The only strange things is if I view the QS values in real time, they are exactly what they should be. 2.5v at rest, 3.4v at upshift and 1.9v at downshift. The test always fails at 1.4v, 1.9v and .96v. I need to set the OBDStar to record those values and go for a ride but the snow got in the way.

It’s cheaper direct from MoTec?

I looked up component prices a couple months ago. The ddm is a big portion of it - depending on which you order, price ranges from like $3-6k iirc. $4k for the ecu, $3k for the dash, figure ~$4k for a harness, then sensors.

M-130 ECU is $2395.00 c-125 Dash is $2280,00 a pro built harness is 2k. Figure the rest. Your paying a giant premium for bundled parts. You can build that kit for a whole lot less than 17k I remember when the BSD MM kit came out. The markup on basic rebranded generic pieces was insane. The real negative part to the Ducati offering is you still cant ditch the ABS, your still stuck with the key/anti theft crap and unless you opt for the ridiculous "optional kit" your stuck with the "no better than a Chinese toaster" stock wiring harness. The Ducati markup on "non Ducati" pieces is criminal (25 bucks for a Poggipolini M6 bolt) for example or 7X the cost for a rebranded commercial load cell. You really have to watch these "kitted" offerings unless your Kevin or Steven then WTF, buy 2.

Okay you’re taking that a bit far Endo…slow your roll a bit, you know and I know that I could have spent a lot more and done alot worse on my build, .... half of what I got I got from your posts.

Kudos to you for sorting your life so that you can stand around a garage all day working on your bike or tracking down some obscure vendor in Nova Scotia, but some of us still have to work for a living lol

You can make a $1.50 a day while under a bike, but I still have to show up to work to get my 35 cents a day….so as far as I’m concerned if I spend an extra $5k here and there to NOT have to spend 8 hours researching a part for a bike I saved $30k worth of my time. And that’s not even counting lost time with the kids or not riding the bike.

You’re a decade or more ahead of me on the putting in the work to ‘not have to put in the work’ to make your money anymore ;-)

I don’t waste money or throw it away, everything on my bike has been as well considered as time allows, when I have wasted money it’s in deference to getting the most out of a hobby that I really enjoy but have limited time for.

You did really well working your ... off and doing some really smart things that gives you wealth in the most important asset we all have…time.

But I’m still in that game that you already won…so maybe be a little less judgey on how I spend my time/money….your advice is greatly appreciated, your judgement without walking in my shoes is not, nor would I expect that mine would be for you.

Good to know.

I took it as a joke. Maybe there's more back story I missed, IDK.
Uh, yea it was a joke dude, I actually like what Steven is doing, on the grand scale of things, it’s great that he is able to throw resources at projects to get them done and in time he will streamline that process and it will get even better. No disrespect man.

I take a lot of crap for “bullying” when in reality my intentions are not that at all. My intentions are to motivate to become independent from limitations and not accept what’s given when I really don’t want what’s being offered. Some people simply don’t want to venture off the path for whatever reason which is fine but you will always be co-dependent.

First and foremost is talent for what “good” looks like. You can have all the resources in the world and still get a “wtf” is that out of it. Leave it alone and let someone else do it.

Secondly, you need the desire to “do or create”. If you don’t have that, let someone else do it.

Time, if you are a natural tinkerer, figure out a career path that leads to others doing the work while you tinker. Yes the guys who have all day to do stuff unencumbered and without boundaries have a huge advantage. That doesn’t happen accidentally. That’s part of a calculated strategy early on.

Capital, similar methodology to the time strategy. Figure it out early and you will be down the road to living not settling.

“What are some of the things you want when you grow up Jenny?” “I want a mansion, a Lambo and a vacation home in Tahiti” “great and what do you want as a career?” “I want to be a school teacher” “uh, we need to chat”

If you don’t know your strategic “end game” you’re going to suffer. You identify what you want and choose a vehicle that allows you to get their ASAP. If you don’t, you end up choosing a career that dictates what you can afford (time and money)and you may never get what you want.

If you are still trading time for dollars, now would be a good time to figure out how to trade other peoples time for your dollars so you can bust out of those boundaries and explore your potential. If at that time you still want someone else to build and maintain your toys, fantastic but at least that’s a choice not a mandate.

Probably was…I’m laid up for a week now after a surgery and getting pretty grumpy over everything, so for sure I might have snapped a bit lol

A week stuck laying around the house on muscle relaxers is ....... with me lol

Just good to see the SSTK spec build on here even tho it was extinct after 2019 season. Interested on what those prices were, only out of curiosity...

Surgery? You have something installed or removed? You ok?

Repaired…had a diastases recti that was herniating ….4 inch gap down the center of my stomach muscles, old power lifting injury that I finally got around to getting fixed.

Pretty uncomfortable surgery, they cut ya from side to side, pull up your stomach muscle skin, then stretch your stomach muscles 4 inches and see it all back together….hurts like hell while it’s healing and you basically have to stay laying around for the 1st 10 days so it all doesn’t tear itself apart.

Needed done though, couldn’t properly work out and had very little core strength with the injury.

Damn that’s pretty invasive. The initial aftermath sucks especially the immobility but you’ll be good as new in no time. LMK if you need something.
