For those of you who don't remember I had my Tric first service and full system fitted then due to weather only got out on it twice, once in heavy rain and once in the dry. I complained the bike felt funny, almost incapable of getting past 8k, sluggish I guess.

Anyway stuff gets odd and more odd. Took it out today, rode it outside the house fine, 8k rev limit showing coz motor cold. Started up rode it out, shut it off, went inside to lock house etc, came back in and nothing. Dash comes up no gear selector display other stuff missing too, starter non responding, tried three times. Each time big red box with BBS! comes up. Also fuel light and engine warning light on, it's full of fuel btw.

Very odd.

Went back into house, got manual, looked up error codes, BBS! is black box error, ie ECU. Hmmmm.

Now it's five minutes later tried it again fired up perfectly!

This time tons of grunt, and goes like stink, huge power wheelie in second about 9k nearly had me, jeez where did this come from?

But also still rev limiter showing orange at 8k then 9k then stuck at 9k the whole way to work.

Got on it tonight, rev limit back to normal got 10.5k orange, 12k red, goes like stink still.

Something odd is going on. I think the ECU Ain't right since the full system map.

Any odd goings on out there?

Ps 300 yards from the dealer after the service, pipe etc it cut out for no reason and I ignored it and restarted. I reckon the ECU and heat from the pipe ain't a good combo.

This seems new and a one off - Take it to the dealer and have them throw it on the diagnostics. You don't want to be stranded somewhere because of a faulty ECU, plus you don't want it to damage your engine in anyway.

I had a very similar experience when the starter grenaded. Obviously yours did not grenade but if the battery voltage was low, maybe that would explain part of it. When the starter grenaded, the screen would blink out and the pump would kick back on. It would randomly put out weird errors, like ENGINE!, BBS!, No gear indicator and no tach. When the dealer got the bike, they could not find any of the codes I described. Maybe have your dealer see if they can see similar codes, check the battery connections for proper torque and maybe the charging system for oddities. Was the bike on a tender once you got home? Next time it happens, check the battery voltage and see if it has fallen below 12.0 volts.

Yeah I hadn't used it for a few weeks and hadnt had it on the battery conditioner. I'll ask them to look at when it goes in for it's safety recall I got today in the post, is some bolt in the swing arm that connects the linkage apparently it can fail. Apart from that it felt great and went like stink! The race seat bedded in nicely now too.

you,ve had a safety recall??? not had one of them yet? ive read about the US and Canada bikes with this issue but yours is the first ive heard of over hear.

Spoke too soon. The recall letter has just arrived. Phoned my dealer - screws are on order and should arrive next week. He said they had only just been notified today as well.
