I was there Sat/Sun with Fun Track Dayz. 105db. Surprised so many went Mon/Tues with 92db. Track had more grip for sure. Less incidents too!!
Lots of really loud bikes. Wonder with 92db how people made sound????

Was at Laguna with Ducati REVS event. Track is indeed super smooth, not that grippy I'd say, especially off line.
It shredded my SC1 rear slick especially with the cool wind. SC2 front was ok. But in hindsight SC2 rear would have been perfect and probably better with and SC1 front too.
Was doing 1.40 laps, first time there, best track ever!!! Love it!
I wish they had some track days for bikes after July there, didn't see any....

I went safe and ran SC3's front and rear, No issues

I was at the Mon Z2 db limit day and I don’t think anyone got excluded for the day. A bunch of people got popped 1-2x and B’s had to run single file through 5-6 to mitigate.

Great to hear No Limits do a day. Might have to jump on that and bring my pink slip. Dates are 11/20-22

I checked, very expensive. As far as I could tell, there's only a package that includes 3 days and lodging. It's very much geared towards foreigners.

Might also include bike transport from the UK - serious $$$$

The room they're offering for the 4 nights at the Hilton is $399 before fees and taxes. If you subtract the room rates, their price for the trackday alone is about $540 per day. Pretty steep price for each day, but I would consider it worth it, especially with the surface in such perfect condition.

I was there with Z2 on the Monday & Tuesday riding my little 749 with Jay Murray inserts. Was one of the funnest days I've ever had at Laguna. Weather was absolutely perfect.

Nothing on their website in the descriptor pointing out noise limitations. Curious if the increased price might be because they elected to pay the county extra for open noise days?

So $540/day for the track and $400/day for the hotel - ~$1000/day? If that includes bike rental for international customers, it might be reasonable for a bucket list track. I think that’s close to what most end up paying to ride international tracks like Mugello or Phillip Island.

I emailed the group yesterday and was told that the event is only open to British passport holders due to the demands of their insurer.

Not certain what that means, as the company is doing business in California and would be beholden to the state statutory regulations regardless of their insurance brokerage.

Like George Carlin said, "It's a BIG club & you ain't in it!"

I was at Willow Springs/Streets of Willow yesterday, just went to ride a few sessions to test out some new adjustments to my suspension.

I lost 20 to 30 pound since the last setup…also as my pace has improved and I getting on throttle faster and harder the bike wasn’t finishing the turn as well as I’d like it too, was starting to track ever so slightly wider and wider on corner exit as apply more power earlier.

So we dropped the rear spring weight from a 130 to a 120, and ultimately ended up increasing preload a bit, increasing compression by 3 clicks and reducing rebound by 3 clicks, we lengthened the shock by 3mm too…thank you RoadracerX

Was running a brand new set of SC2’s front and back.

Bike felt better than it ever had, really dialed in.

On a different note, as most of you know Big Willow got refreshed in August, so I got a few pics and talked to them about what they actually did.

They repaved the more technical half of the track, turn 1 through turn 6 altogether…turn 7 to turn 1 is resurfaces with all the cracks filled and the entire track is coated with a black topcoat that’s super grippy. The pic in the middle is turn 8.

The dip in turn 1 is graded out now too.

Can’t wait to get out on it next month.

so 130 to 120? is that N/m?

What forks and fork travel do you have and where are they sat in the yokes?

Shock length is a bit subjective from what to what? What bottom link are you using and length of link arms? Are you using a ride height tool, if so what one? What rear ride height are you at?

:)

I have the Nix 30 forks that came on the bike but with FKR 108 fork inserts and we are running an 11 and 12 spring in the forks to blend out to 11.5, at my size and riding style that’s bringing us to about full travel on the fork under the hardest braking. I believe the travel on the FKR 108’s is 130.

The rear shock is an Ohlins TTX GP that was custom valved by the Ohlins engineers to account for my rider weight, the Pierobon Extended Swingarm, and I have the Forsaken Motorsports linear link.

The bike that RoadracerX said he had in the shop with that link that he was working on that started the whole curfuffle on links in the other thread was my bike.

I also have the IMA Triple tree with the #2 eccentrics in there that decrease offset by about 4mm and make the front end a bit more stable on hard accelerations at speed and under braking, I have about 10 mm of fork tube showing at the top of the triple tree.

We lengthened the shock by 3 mm at the double nut at the bottom of the rear shock.

Ride height I’d have to ask RoadracerX

Overall he did an amazing job of setting my bike up so it turns really well and now holds the line when adding power coming off the apex. I have a lot of non-standard stuff to work around like the linear link, the Pierobon swingarm, the IMA triple trees to work around and RoadracerX was the only person willing to spend the time figuring out how to get the bike sorted with those unique aspects, and did a great job, without ever seeing me on track he got everything dialed in to within one click of compression and rebound…finally got the bike turning well, and holding the line properly.

I was lucky and Dave Moss was at the track yesterday so I had him checking tire wear as I came off track. Say what you want about that guy and his internet marketing, he’s brilliant when you are trackside with him making real time adjustments. If I’m honest, and compare the work that Dave did remotely and RoadracerX did semi-remotely, meaning not at trackside, RoadracerX got the bike way more dialed in…but Dave is a genius trackside, he looked at my tire wear, adjusted the rear rebound 1 click and the front compression one click and immediately the tires felt more planted and stable. So if you ever see Dave trackside let him have a look at your tires as you come off track, we’ll worth the $75 he charges.

Big shout out to RoadracerX for taking on the challenge of getting my bike dialed in with all the unique parts on my bike to navigate, no one else even wanted to try, but he got her really really close to dialed in, with the last click or two done at the track in real time with Dave

remind me, is your bike pre or post 2020?

Yes, the overall settings you are arriving at seem to be pretty much the way and not too dissimilar to where several are concluding over here ….
