After riding home it had a little over 500 miles on the odometer so I planned on doing it's first oil change.

It's very easy to work on in my opinion.

Also dropped one tooth up front and did the evotech tail tidy.

The difference in gearing is amazing. So absolutely perfect for me.

As ridiculous as it sounds I will mostly be commuting with this bike and will at times be in slower areas with traffic. With the stock gearing 1st felt like taking off in 2nd to me, too much clutch work.

This is my first bike of this type so maybe that is common.

Thanks for the post. The pictures were really great and helpful. I plan on doing my own oil changes and every piece of info helps. Thanks!

It would be nice if you could do a video or post step by step instructions for the oil and oil filter change.
My Ducati shop tells me the oil change needs at least 3 hours to make sure there is not too much oil in the engine!

You need a new shop that does not lie .

Shop around

Either going off factory book schedule to make extra $$$$ or

They might do other things like ecu updates, wash the bike, set chain tension..... you know a service.

I got quoted $550 to change the thermostat housing having replaced it myself they weren't taking the piss, except for the fork oil change places want two hours labour and it aint a two hour job.

Nice funnel!

I don’t think they are lying regarding the 3h oil change time. That’s what I have heard straight from my local service agent, who is as honest as they come.

Apparently the oil can get stuck in the engine for up to 3 hours leading you to believe that you need to pour more oil.
Too much oil would damage the engine, so I am told.

Carbondave, thank you.

razz, you like my funnel more than the wooden blocks? :D

sebmarc, not sure, the actual time to do the work is not much. I left the drain plug out for about 1.5hrs while I stopped to eat lunch but really didn't seem like much at all was draining after the first few minutes.

The Flux Capacitor has a unusual bend in it where the oil gets stuck if you pat the tank softly it disloges it .

Haha yes I took it with the rest of them and only noticed now that you asked that it wasn't posted.

My dealer in the UK has had an update from Ducati, that the oil must be weighed and then the same weight of oil put back in. They also confirmed that the bike must sit for 1 hour, drain the oil out for 1 hour, put weighed oil back in, start bike to circulate oil, shut down and let sit for another hour, then check oil level.

Crazy!

Is there a speedometer adjustment setting for the new sprocket, or is this wishful thinking on my part? Would be simple for Ducati to add the setting in a future firmware update.

Agreed, 1st gear is a bit too tall.

Does it get speed from the sprocket? My Monster got its speed from a sensor measuring the spin of the rear brake disc.

Yes, it's set up so you can re-calibrate for final drive and tire size changes on the bike.

Go through the menu to I believe it says "tire calibration" and "start". Hold the select (again just going from memory) button down and it tells you to hold it at 29-32mph indicated in 2nd gear for a bit and will then say -completed.
