Hi,

I have some oil spraying out of both the rear and front cylinders after hard/fast use. I have read that this is very common as the valve cover bolts get loose. I tightened up the rear ones after taking the fuel tank off - although I'm not sure about the rear ones with the subframe in the way as I had to McGuyver the things (any secret without taking subframe off?).

How awkward are the front ones to get at?
I also noticed this so I might go and get me some new liquid gasket - it doesnt look great. There's no issue pulling this cover off and resealing I assume?

Sorry for the seemingly silly questions! Don't want to be paying a dealer for tightening bolts!

The subframe is a lot easier to take off than you may think. But I'm sure if you know how to take the tank off you know that the subframe can come off completely assembled. Undo the four main bolts and some plugs under your seat and it just pops off. I had just replaced my vertical cylinder's valve cover gasket last weekend.

Cheers - I had the tank off and put it back on. Tightened everything as well as I could (bolts were loose). Is the slight gap in the top of the gasket on the side cover normal? There is a dip so it might be sealed up. Need it to stop lashing rain here to get a run in to see of it's still leaking!

Not sure what dips you're talking about exactly. I know you have to add 3bond sealant at the corners where the dope start. You can see the remnants of the old stuff on my bike. Mine was barely a leak. More like a seepage. Decided to change it anyway.

Will get a run before taking the lot of anyway, thanks.
The dip I meant is on the side cover, looks a bit like the gasket might be able to let something pass there, but looking at yours it seems normal
