I'm 55 and have yet to own a Ducati . I'm looking at a 1198S, a 959, and a "demo" V4. Never having ever ridden one before, I'm leaning towards the 1198S for its raw-ness. Now if I can only get over the fact that it's black! Aren't Ducati's supposed to be red?
I'm 66 and just bought my new '17 959 for a track only bike. In the process of converting for track now. First track day 5/25! My street bike is a KTM SuperDukeGT -- that bike showed me I need to upgrade my track bike. I put about 500 miles on the 959 before it went into the shop for the track stuff. Started riding when I was 56 - had many great mentors and riding coaches to help me.
