That was before I learned about the BMW woes.

Of course. If they were riding Suzukis they would be where, exactly?

I guess if you want to look stylish while broken down on the side of the road, you buy a Ducati or Harley.

Listen penis features let me put it like this, I drive a hand built British super car when I'm not riding something. I drive it because I have earned it.
While I appreciate some supercharged BMW may offer more comfort from a dealer and reliability? I do not want to drive one.
I ride a pen 1299 because I like it because I can and I really don't have to stress if I don't make it to the grid on a weekend ride should it have a period.
The jap bikes have Zero personality and your coming into a Ducati camp and trying to justify why we should ride a brand most of used too when we still used to count our shillings is braved, this forum should ban comments from non Ducati owners, as they do on Pprune (aviation forum) only affording licensed pilots to comment, and the arm chair pilots to simply just read..

Re your comment, I may add that I have suffered a roadside breakdown with said car, here is how it went, the British elves borded a private Lear jet and arrived in SA within 14 hours of the fault, during that time the car was recovered and loaded into a sealed low bed, by men with white gloves, I was collected by private helicopter on roadside and taken home (dinner was getting cold) similarly a man who had a breakdown with his Toyota....well I have no fuuuurken idea how his day turned out, but it certainly was not top draw,....should I desert the British Marques and get a Lexus?

Ducati ownership is reserved for us who appreciate the finer things in life, while jap bikes are good, and they offer reliability they are like the slag in the bar that lets you have anal on the first night out....not the girl to marry.

I trust my candid comments will auger well with you and on closing I may add that I certainly do not oooogle at a jap bike at the lights, as I don't look at Ferrari owners either because they too suffer a short penis issue that needs attention.

LMAO, you are brainwashed if you believe you a part of an exclusive club.
That's the same crap Hardly-Ableson riders say. "My bike has character"
"My bike is a rolling piece of artwork" etc, etc, etc...

This is a Ducati Panigale forum. Would somebody kick this .... off here already?

they do have soul and are pieces of art.:D that's why we love them and name them after women. guess all the R1 owners are glad they are at the top of the list. wonder if it was before or after the transmission replacement.

@OP,

So far we have..

1. Suzuki Hayabusa
2. Ducati Panigale
* Yamaha Virago

Choose wisely...

Cant handle the truth?

Haaaaaaaaa"¦"¦This is coming from someone riding the most famous ghetto land yacht there is. The bike that was invented to be a walking phallic symbol, can't do much but go in a straight line relatively fast compared to liter bikes, not the Panigale, and can't stop for .... and certainly can't turn a corner. But hey, you keepin' it real.

Let me know how that extended swing arm, and nitrous works for ya. Then you fit every stereotype there can be about the bike. Ok, minus no jacket, shorts, a wifebeater, and some ridiculous "look at me" helmet with some Predator dreads on it.

Just sayin.

NOLA

Ya know, for someone as old as you are, you sure do act immature. My guess would be you're at least in your 50's but have the mind of a kid who just had his nuts drop into his sack.

Seriously man, give it a rest already. If this is purely for entertainment purposes, go watch some porn, go out with the guys, go contribute on the hayabusa forums in a positive way, find something more productive........., anything.

Seems to be a common theme with these "Italian Harleys"
I'll stick with my Busa.

* It boggles my mind that you would recommend something with all these problems. I would not.

I have owned GSXR's R1's and even raced R1's and R6's but none of the above has give me such a damn hard on as this bike does flying around the track. It's my dream bike and its gonna take a lot to ruin that for me as I am lucky to have an amazing dealer. So I can and do recommend it for anyone for those reasons.

Opinions

Thank you all for the comments. I've been in Germany for several days on business and had little time for R & R. I'm back in the states trying to catch up!

I think owning a Ducati carries with it significant "brand loyalty" more so than owning the big 4 Japanese brands. A German friend that just sold his Ducati stated, "So many problems, expensive to fix, required constant trips to the dealer, but I will miss her and I'm glad I met her"

I will probably make my decision within the next two weeks. It will be either the Yamaha FJR1300 or the Duc.

The FJR1300 is an amazing motorcycle.
One thing I've learned over the years is never buy a 1st or 2nd year model. There are always "bugs" to be worked out.

No offense, but if you are trying to decide between an FJR1300 and a Panigale, they are not even the same class of bike. Have you test ridden a Multistrada? That lines up with an FJR much more favorably.

And I have seen several guys that take the bags off of their multi and slicks and race them on weekends. They are way more versatile than you might think.

I concur, the FJR and the 1299 both have two wheels and that is where the similarity ends. I have ridden the multi, the KTM 1290, the BMW XR and the BMW GS. All are great machines and quite versatile. However, as a former road racer, (WERA & AMA), my preference is for a true sport machine. But when practicality enters the picture and purchasing only one bike is the reality, the 1299 suffers somewhat due to the exact nature of its purpose.
Although compromised in some categories, my ZX12R supported lite sport touring, track-days and daily commuting.

After spending a good bit of time researching this forum, it seems as though the Ducati brand is very problematic in terms of reliability.
I mean I see Breakage, Fires, etc... It just seems like a hell of a price to pay for being stylish.
