Thanks a lot for these! I take it you bought a version for 1299? What do you use for tether? Sorry for many questions, a bit new to mounting cameras on bikes for track events.

I just tether it around the mount itself (just thread behind in the little slit/opening. Works great. If the camera comes off the mount, it isn't going anywhere.

Thanks for posting your video. COTA is def on the bucket list, Long road trip from San Diego though.....

Total RESPECT for how deep in your braking !

Thanks man. Appreciate it. The bike makes it easy.

It's definitely worth the trip if you have the time for some travel.

Awesome riding, and thanks for sharing. Hoping to take my bike out there some day as well - would be a long trip but it looks like it's worth it!

Great video, made me miss COTA, fabulous riding. Have you ever gone head to head with Marty or Geoff from AMS Dallas?

That would be a cool video...

Absolutely flying. Epic vid!

Out of curiosity, what tires were you running?

I was running SC1's front and rear. They work and wear much better in the high temps. Front is a bit softer under braking, so you may get a little squish, but the feel is much better than the SC2 front.

Ha, yeah! Marty hasn't been riding much lately. He's mostly jamming around on his Multi and fly fishing. I offered up my 1299 for him to ride last weekend..

I passed Jeff a few times out there last weekend, but he was riding the AMS V4 demo for the first time and was trying to get used to it. Jeff is fast when he wants to be.. ;) He's a 6-time national champ. Pretty sure he can "cruise" around COTA running low 2:20s without breaking a sweat. lol.

Yeah, it's pretty solid. The guy selling it said "it may not work" on the V4, but it's just a pain getting the bolts out IIRC. It was wanting to pull the whole stud or something, but I was able to make it work without too much issue.

May I ask how you got the bolts out without removing the whole stud, please? I can't prevent the stud from spinning. :(

Don't fully recall. I think I just gently got a hold of it enough with some longer needle nose pliers. Enough to break it loose.

wow. I was using a table vise and messed up the thread, it did not budge even then.. No way to apply heat because of the plastic part.. I am starting to wonder if one of them is a left hand thread or they applied some serious locktight..

Ducati makes working on bikes fun!

I removed them.. Holy crap they were tight. By feel it was at least 40 ft*lbs. On one of them I was successful to unscrew it, but totally destroyed the thread in a vise. On the second one it was so tight, I ended up twisting the stud off! But in the process, the plastic cover piece got liberated and now the install may continue. Supplied grab screws in the kit are too short, so I need to buy those now before I can proceed further.

Just a word of caution to those who consider this mount for the V4. I plan on posting a video of my setup for the detector and go pro install after I am done.

Yeah, Ducati went a little overboard on the torque for these stupid little retaining cover bolts. Totally unnecessary.

MotoX183, would you critic my lap? I am in level 2A and ran 2:37 last weekend. I run SC2s front and rear, Akra exhaust. This was my first track season.

I kept pausing your video alongside of mine and see that you are carrying more corner speed in faster corners, but slow corners are not that far apart. I am also descent on brakes I think.

I bomb down the straights pretty well too LOL :D

Look forward to level 3 some time next season!

Hey Man,

You look pretty good out there! Was that Ty following you with the cam in the last bit? How are you liking the bike so far? So far, I'm digging mine.

I'm probably not the best critic, but I'll give it a go.. :D Honestly, you're not far off from breaking through to the sub 2:30's. Noticed a couple of things, but from what I saw in the vid, it's mostly just a little bit of corner entry speed and earlier exit pickup that is missing. Body position actually looks pretty good (could open your inside shoulder up more to help you pivot your head toward the apex, but I'm just nitpicking) As for exits, take a look at T11. You are rolling through from mid-to-exit, then when the bike is stood up completely, you really light it up. You should want to begin to roll it on once you crest the apex, while still at lean. Obviously not WFO, but enough to begin acceleration. It should be smooth roll on from mid/apex, as the bike is coming up from lean, to eventually WFO. You should feel like the acceleration is pushing you out to the edge of the track if you are doing it right. Almost like you are steering with your right wrist.

A couple of the biggest things I noticed were entry into the S's (T3-6) and the carousel (T16-18). Fast forward on my vid to like the 4th lap when there is some open track. From T2-T3 I push it up around 120+, then my entry speed into T3 is just over 110. As I hit each apex, I'm gradually losing speed as they tighten up, but never drop to much below 85 or so. I'm moving quick enough that I am slamming knee pucks down on each curb. You should be pulling on the bars (counter-steering) in order to get it to transition. If you're not, you've probably given up too much speed. It can feel kinda sketchy coming in a lot faster, but you have to commit and not lock up your mind/body, aka deer in headlights style. Start small with a little more entry speed each time. COTA is awesome and you can just run off in the paint there without issue, so there isn't much risk.

Coming out of T15 and entering the carousel, you will want to carry a lot more speed. You should be steering the bike through those turns with the throttle. If you look closely at your vid, you're making significant adjustments to your lean angle to make corrections. Lean angle adjustment should be less pronounced and more minor there. You should be using more/less throttle to push the bike further out and/or bring it closer into the apex. Hopefully that makes sense?

Anyway, this would be a lot easier to explain face to face. Kinda hard to type out and get the full picture. You look like your about ready to come play in L3 with us! If you do, hit me up at the next one and I'll tow you around a bit so you can pace with me or something.

Hey man,

I really appreciate your feedback here, I agree with all the points you make! I made a lot of the same conclusions myself. Something to work on for sure. Sucks that the track season has ended pretty much. Never thought I would lament cooler weather living in Houston, but for this reason I am!

Yes, this was Ty on his KTM. Great guy. I was talking all day R class with him on Sunday, hence the white jersey and him video taping. Looks like he didn’t want to keep following me on that back straight. V4 destroys everything down that stretch - so much fun, the engine is over worldly. I was consistently hitting 190 MPH with the top being 191.

This is my first Ducati and I absolutely love it on the track. Initially, I had some critic for the bike, but as I got better myself and adjusted some things to my liking, I began to understand it more and more and now I am just blown away by what it is capable of. I love electronics on it! I enjoy it on the street as well, apart from heavy traffic commute, which I don’t really use it for.

When I move up eventually, I’ll definitely hit you up. Thank you for the offer.

Cheers mate.
