What kind of out-the-door prices are you guys being quoted? For a base without ABS, I was quoted $19,915 out the door at one dealership, and approximately $19,500 from another dealership. I think I only paid about $500 in set-up, freight, tax, title, license etc. on my 1198, but will have to check my paperwork to confirm. Is this dealership gouging or a premium their tacking on for trying to get an earllier example?

When I get home tonight, I'll pull up my paperwork and see what I was told.

I too am curious to hear other people's OTD price and the breakdown for their 1199.

I've had 4 previoud Ducs, 3 of which were new and only paid set up/freight on 1 totalling $500. I've was quoted $18500 by both my closest dealers and both expressed that they can't waive the Set up/freight cost due to the bike being hot .... basically lol. That i'm cool with.

Just out of curiousity i've called other dealers and they quoted over $19k...not gonna happen.

Guys, MSRP is not the bible, its negotiable ;-)...but like I said, with this being the hottest thing on the market rigth now dont expect much of a "deal". Every dealer has their price and there prefered customers for that matter.

good luck

I was quoted on a base without ABS, and termi slip-ons right around $21,000. No setup fee, however I will have to get the full termi system due to the increased power after I see some good numbers...

Thanks Ducenzo, good information. I agree with you that they're not gonna be too flexible on the MSRP, with this thing just coming out of the gates and demand high. Can you tell me who the dealerships were that quoted in the $18k range? I'd be willing to travel to pick it up or arrange shipment for the right price. At the minimum, it would give me solid negotiating ground to stand on with my (semi) local dealerships if I had a quote from another dealership.

Yeah my 2nd 999 I bought was new and I drove my car 8 hrs to Chicago and turn arround rode the new bike 8 hrs back home (my freind drove my car back, 530 miles both ways)...just for the right price...over $1000 under MSRP infact.

My local dealer at the time was reluctant to give me service but, knew he couldnt offer me a better deal so. they got over it. Customer is always right brah

So I feel ya, exotic bike dealers always try to get ya...I've had 4 hondas also and have never ever paid MSRP much less setup/freight total, out the door lol

Plus telling you what "I" was offered may either be to my disadvantage or work in my favor, if you were to inquire to my dealers :)...either way, I live in the Kansas City area of MO...you do the rest of the research

keep in mind you would probably be behind 40 ppl if you were to switch to my dealer...i'm #2

good luck

It's a hot bike, but how hard will it be to get one once the riding season is upon us?

How are dealers ordering their inventory based on this hot demand?

I'm going to pay the additional $1000 to have ABS, but I also know that most likely next year, the 2013 1199 will come with ABS standard for the same MSRP price point. But at least I'll have more miles on my 1199 than anyone who buys one next year!

In Thailand the Base 1199 without ABS is ฿1,199,000 or $39,250 USD out the door non negotiable. 187% TAX included :(

Now quit your whining about your 1k premium! lol

Thanks for all of info everybody. With the info Ducenzo gave me, i.e. not every dealership was gouging out there I called a couple dealerships in S.Carolina. Both of them quoted the MSRP plus minor fees OTD. So I put down a deposit on one at a dealership about 4 hours away.

The best part is they're gonna buy my 1198 right now (I'm deployed right now and don't return home until June). So I won't have to make payments on it in the period before I return to the good ol' US and A. Now I just gotta figure out how I'm gonna have the wife load up my 1198 and drive it four hours, oy.

This is a B_ll - Sh_t question. You should be asking WHAT DID YOU PAY FOR THE BIKE (not including TAX - Doc. Fee - Plates) because taxes are different in every State, in every County.

SELLING PRICE before these are tacked is the right question to ask. The dealer does NOT control the tax rate of where the bike will be titled to...

I disagree. Within the same state, OTD quotes have varied significantly, depending on how much the dealer wants to try and gouge the customer. Some have "documentation fees" that are several hundred dollars, set-up fees that range from $0-$496, etc. Therefore, the prices for the bike is virtually irrelevant, it's what you actually finance or pay to get it out of the dealership that really matters as there is a lot of room to tack on charges above and beyond the MSRP, or negotiated price for the bike alone. The $19,915 quote I was given on a base model represents a greater than 10% difference between MSRP and what would have actually been paid, which is what the real B.S. is, along with assertion that OTD doesn't matter.

I contacted a border state dealership, and got the exact same bike for more than $1,000 less, OTD. While both dealers claimed to be giving me the MSRP. MSRP is only one of four or more variables that control the price of the bike. The others being, if you finance, interest rate, down payment, trade-in value, and of course, all of the other charges some dealers tack on to screw people. I rest my case.

$20,277 otd base no abs

THAT'S OUTRAGEOUS !!! you need to shop around bro

Now I dont know if like IL they give you plates at the dealer when you buy the bike in Indiana, but if not and you still have to go down to the DMV and pay tax/registration, the most OTD should be is $19k...that MSRP $17995 plus set up/freight anywhere from $496 to $1000. oh, and their paperwork might include processing fee $100 or so, thats it!!!.

only way I'd pay over $19,000 is if sales taxe and plates included...and even then i'm negotiating 1st service free lol

For the record, my OTD price was $18,887 US, with tax, title, license plate (registration), freight and a $95 set-up fee or something or other. That $95 is the only extra fee the dealership I went to is going to collect outside of the price of the bike from me, which I think is very reasonable. I highly recommend them, they're Touring Sport in Greenville, SC. If you're in the triangle area, shop Greenville for a Panigale!

That's one of the perks of SC, max $300 sales tax on new vehicles. I live down in Florida now so I'm not so lucky anymore...6%. But registration fees in SC are rediculous when it comes time to get a new sticker for your tag.
