My bad, 105 lb-ft (142 nm)....... fixed ;)

Note how they are still just shy of the SL not to take the shine off it?

haha I was about to say as the 959 has 100nm.

But remember the SL1 when it came out with 200hp, then 1299 came out not long after with 200hp.

It would of been cool to see a 959 EVO come out like they did with the 848.

Yea definitely a Panigale R - Check out this pic.. you can kind of make out the Panigale R decal on the side..

I shall keep my anniversario, these days there always something better, light and faster every 6 months

They're really all parts bins bikes, even the "R" ......So??

What I really want is a 1299 "R" with the SL exhaust and engine. Yeah...I would trade in my bike for one of those!

Check out the other thread about the V4 engine. A guy there knows someone with a 1299R.

Okay, so here is what I know......

£32,000 (GBP)

The 1299 FE (final edition) will be akin to the Panigale R. In the same way as the Panigale R is a watered down 1199 SL, so the FE will be born of the 1299 SL. You can think of it as a 1299 R.

The engine is largely the same but with a few changes, such as you won't get aluminum piston liners in the FE. It will put out 209.4 bhp with 105 lb-ft (142 nm) of torque.

Chassis and geometry, again the same however, no carbon bodywork, no carbon wheels, no carbon frame and no carbon swing arm. Weight will be comparable to the SL with only a few kg in the balance.

Mechanical suspension, whoop!!

The all important WSBK exhaust too

These things will be numbered, although not limited but I would expect Desmo numbers......1500 ish

For me I'm in. The reason being I have the R which, if I decided to, would be traded in for the V4. However, I am still skeptical of the V4 as yet and as someone has previously said "never buy the first generation of anything". When that time comes, if the V4 is good, no one will then want my R other than the fans so it means the value will also drop. Basically I can pay in an extra £4k for this or lose as much when I sell mine...... apples, oranges

......... Deposit is down :D

Good to see someone with some balls to make his own decision and take a chance and buy something he has not even seen. So refreshing compared to the "can someone please help me to decide what bike to buy" posts. I sometimes wonder how those people manage to breathe on their own. If you read this and feel butt hurt. Talk to Mark. :)

I don't blame you, it's an exclusive too, probably more so than this upcoming 1299 R.

I'm kinda tied to either wait for the V4 and lose on the part exchange value of mine or just pull the trigger and go for the 1299 R, pay up front but I will have a newer machine. It also gives me a chance to wait a bit longer and mull over the V4 because that will be quite far removed from a twin and I'm not certain I want that yet. By then the 1299 R will also have a better trade in value if I do go for the V4........

Well that's how I justify it to myself anyways!!! :D

I stuck a deposit down as well, just incase like...... :) No idea if I'll go for it as its a lot of money but a 1299R engine will be something incredible for sure.

i'm interested in this more than SL since SL is definitely out of my price range. lol

I hope six months after the 1299 Panigale becomes history there are big discounts to justify me trading my 1199. I love the bike and the twin has tons of character and plenty of performance for my street riding

I heard this is all old news now and that they're coming out with a 1299 LE FE (limited edition final edition) which will be specially numbered within the numbered edition and comes with carbon wheels, revised electronics and smoked windscreen. Pretty sure there's a list going around to secure a spot.

I'm sure they'll make just enough to homologate it for WSBK in 2018. The V4 will spend a year in superstock first.

They can't use a 1299 in WSBK. Likely just moving ahead with one last year of the "R"

That's basically the nail on the head.

I was talking to the dealer about it. Ducati didn't actually make much money on the 1299 SL. It was more of an engineering and marketing exercise.

However, after spending a ton of money on R&D, tooling and manufacture they can recoup some of that outlay by producing a cost effective version for the (ahem!) everyday person.

Besides, they also have a .... ton of old Panigale parts to get rid of to make way for the V4 :D

........... He also said I can expect delivery of mine in September, and no, I couldn't choose it's number. That privilege was reserved for the SL customers

I'm hearing slightly different - cant name the source.

I'm hearing this will be in between R and SL but not actually R.

I live 10 mins away from Laguna Seca and I'm attending this year so I will take many photos.
