Hi everyone, new to both Ducati and the forum,
Managed to save enough to buy a 2016 1299 Panagale and was delighted with my purchase, I have had the bike 3 months and it has only covered 4k miles. I had a few rides with no issues, last week I washed the bike with a bucket and sponge. Looked amazing. Later I went to go out and almost had heart failure when I seen all the warning lights and errors. You can’t imagine the fear!. So I started to look at the forums and the great advice from you guys,
Well I took some advice and looks at the plugs under the seat and here is what I found.

I really hope this is the only issue🥹
Any advice on how to repair and stop this happening again?

man...i feel you, seen this many times...this is why I never ride in the rain, avoid puddles like the plague and only use spray honda polish on my bikes these days...

Figure out what connector that goes too...I have a complete harness you can buy and use it to cut and splice what you need fixed...

If that is S model specific plug, i dont think i can help, but if its same plug on base and S versions...you may be in luck.

Not sure where the plug goes, got so stressed when I saw it I closed the garage door and went to bury my sorry head in a pillow before my kids saw a grown man cry!

I will trace it tomorrow, I’ll let you know if I need any wiring, thanks for the reply

You can just replace the plug on both ends. This website sells new ducati replacement connectors. If you're still having problems, get a code reader to see what connection is causing the problem.

Thank you got some options now! I cleaned the plug with some spray and electrical engineer at my company gave me, the fault has cleared and no errors last week🥳 thank you for your reply and suggestions.

The pig tails have helped me with another issue! I needed to extend a plug on the left handle bar and it worked out well.

I had the same problem with my 1199 about 3 years ago. Tried changing it out for a new JST 8-pin plug I had in a kit, but had to shorten the wires a little bit. It worked. You can get pre-wired pings and connector shells and just splice them into the harness. I went a slightly different route and went to a larger pre-wired 8-pin plug. I has gold plated connectors and weather-pack style seals around the shell lips to prevent seepage from causing the same problem you are now fixing. Unless you are wanting your bike to 'appear OEM' for some reason, I'd upgrade to a larger fully-weather pack type of plug. I'll put a link in the post if you are interested in going that route.

Note: Currently unavailable, but you get the idea. 16 AWG is available, though.
