Till now can't reach the lap times I made with Panigale 1299. I still miss almost two secs on Mugello racetrack riding my Pani V4 S. Probably it's only me. I cant even see important improuvements to reduce weight or to make it better handling between twisties. Can't esplain. The feeling is a lot faster, but chrono says something else....

Hard to say. Different track conditions? Also depends on the electronics. Too much on the rider aids and it could actually slow the bike down.

Are the rider aids the same for each bike? Are they both off?

Well, the rider it's me, but not in the same day. Rode the bikes several times in different days. Bikes are both stock, and both equipped with stock Pirelli Supercorsa SP. Both of the bikes in standard version, not "S" version. Surprisingly i've been very slightly faster with sport map than race one. Now i sold the V4 base and bought an "S". Anxious about ending the break in period and bring her to racetrack.

I used stock motorbikes, not even bodywork, suspensions or rims/tires. Can't say it for sure, as the comparatin didn't happen in the same time, but my impression is the 1199 is lighter and easier in the twisties left to right and vice versa. V4 is faster on the straights. In my eyes, electronics works very well on both of the bikes. Apparently not much invasive. My skill is pretty average. I'm a bit experienced, but i'm not a professional rider.

Give it a chance. Often, when you try too hard u actually slow down.
You’re clearly more comfortable with your old v2 still.
Spend time getting in tune with new bike and concentrate on body position and visual perspective.
Once you’re in tune, start braking slightly later and trailing deeper to the apex. Concentrate on applying roll on throttle as soon as possible.
Your times will plummet.
PB often feel like slow laps.
Ride safe.

Oh, not giving up at all!!!
Love this bike too much
For the rest i'm trying to do my best.
Thanks for the advices.

^^This is pretty accurate.

You just need to get more comfortable on the new ride it sounds like. It's definitely not the bike. I was able to match my personal best @ cota the first full day out on the V4S. This is before I have made any effort to get it into track trim like I already had done on the 1299.

It's a bit heavier than the twins straight away, but is quicker from full right to left and vice/versa. The cota S section (turns 3 to 6) make this really noticeable. Once it is in race trim with track bodywork, race exhaust and lights etc. removed, it will be a very capable weapon.

One thing I noticed for myself.. I was short-shifting on the V4, as I was used to shifting a bit earlier on the twin. The V4 will pull really strong up to around 13.5k. I've also switched to using SC1s exclusively in the hotter weather. They hold up waaay better and have much better front end feel and grip in 95F+ ambient temps. The SC1s took a bit different pressures than the SC2s to get a good setup, but the Pirelli guys were really helpful and provided solid guidance.

Keep in mind the 1299 had more torque and the V4 is geared really tall .
Try going down a tooth down on the front sprocket and have another crack .

There's a reason if Ducati doesn't want a comparison between the two bikes.
V4 is very powerfull but the handling? The erogation?
Electronics works continuously.

unfortunately the V4 in all the comparisons doesn't made a clear step forward with the times. The 1299 won many comparative, the V4 does not succeed.
power is not everything.

...? wat?

There's no conclusion to anything other than the 1299 obviously is going to have more torque. I have not seen a head to head track shoot out vs the V4.

Yep agreed .

I watched about half of that video. Saw a bit at the end too. Reminds me of an old saying.

"Opinions are like ......... Everybody has one."

I have not looked into the V4 much. Be nice to ride both and have a comparison. I would be comparing my MY12 1199S to the V4. Not enough coin to have both so will only know what my 1199 is like.

Sounds to me that this guy who made the video is clearly on the twin side and just pushing his own opinion. Bit of conspiracy theory stuff going on there too with the stuff about hp numbers. Probably someone had a few typos.

Correct, but in my case i can't obviously ride both at the same time, so i must deal with my feelings (much better the V4) and the chrono, till now lower with the twin, even if the difference is getting thin, but still over the second. Same days, same track, same rider.

Numbers don’t lie........new isn’t always better
if numbers were a the only criteria that mattered, then the 1299/1199 will always beat a 899/959at the track. It doesn't and that's pretty embarrassing for a flagship bike.

We're now talking about a bike that many experts who rode the bike to be a 600cc agility with liter power. It would bully the .... outta the super twin.

See? I can also make absurd hyperbole, all we know from that video is MOAR TORKZ.

I am really enjoying my V4s which is really what counts most unless you are racing. My limiting factor for lap times has always been me and not the bike:) If you prefer the twin and think the V4 is a step backwards then ride the twin!

Best post yet I'm sure none of us are out ridding these bikes . Proof will be when the V4 is racing WSBK and see how much easier it is to tune than the previous bike .
Posting stupid videos is just ridiculous .
