Whoa, thats bold!

I thought this was the 1299 forum? Why so many threads about the 1199?

This website began as an "1199" Forum and many of the members have been here since the first day Duc created it for those of us who took the plunge and purchased the first rendition of this style Ducati with all its many features and initial creations. Therefore, it was initially intended for those of us who decided to pull the trigger on the 1199 - and subesquently had the 1299 added to it to keep up with the transition to the newer model.

I would think that as an owner of a 1299 (I assume you own one?) you would soak up the past experiences and knowledge that comes with this site and those original Senior Members who have learned more than MOST 1299 owners may have since its release? (Obviously thats speaking objectively within reason - :D) I am quite sure the owner of this site (Duc) surely doesnt want to delete and put behind him all of this knowledge and experience from all of these "Original Members" just since Ducati moved up to the 1299, which would be like saying the 916 doesnt deserve an honorable mention on ANY Ducati related website just due to its age?

No disrespect intended toward you Speedy14, but MANY of us were here a LONG time before the 1299 was even released in the press, and also LONG before you became a member of this site / forum my friend. I honestly believe you can learn alot from those of us who own the 1199 series and would think you may truly want to have that opportunity as a Ducati owner. Actually, some of us "older model 1199 members" have more riding, racing, and educational experience than you could believe! As many of the membership can attest, I for one have more contacts than Bausch & Lomb when it comes to parts and accessories you may actually desire for your 1299 - and would like to think I have assisted MANY members here in their search and acquisition of these!

I just believe you have more to GAIN than you have to LOSE by having this forum include the ENTIRE 1199 series my man. Am I incorrect in my assumption Speedy? Feel free to respond in kind to what I have written here, but remember I have NOT been antagonistic nor disrespectful in my thoughts and beliefs-therefore I sincerely do not expect that in return.

Gunny Fitz

No matter whether we speak about the 1199, 1299, or R this forum is the BEST because of all the great members that contribute. Also, this forum has provided me many hours of entertainment as well as technical and product info. Thank you all!

I had always thought those aero kit was for covering the mirror gap in case I decide to take them off ;) They are still in bubble wrap in my attic exactly the way the dealer handed to me.

By the way, thanks to all for all the info's and lessons. I've been reading and absorbing a lot. To me, I think it should have stayed ducati1199. :)

Aero kit....I like it. .................... but opinions are like azzholes........................LOL

Sorry to rile you up! LOL ( Evidently this is a real sensitive topic for your LOL..) You obviously took a lo of time to expres your disdain for my remark with all the Bold letters etc... :p

I just wanted to know why there were so many threads about the 1199 ON THE 1299 site..??
I would agree with you that the 1199 site would have a LOT of very useful and pertinent info that the 1299 owner could use. I have gone over a lot of it and appreciate all the insight it provides. But when I go on the 1299 site and start reading about a certain issue (that I assume is about the specific 1299 issues) and then get down to the end of it and find out it was for the 1199 or by an 1199 owners experience/ sometimes it is NOT relevant to the "specific 1299 issue".. The new 1299 bike does have some different fuel mapping issues, Exhaust, different bodywork/fairings /fairing stays. mirror mounts.. Different electronics in certain areas.. As an example.. I was told by a certified Ducati Technician that though the 1199 exhaust will fit that it will a smaller diameter pipe. and the mappings for the 1299 is NOT going to be right with the older exhaust..! (The new 1299 uses a 60 mm pipe the 1199 uses a 57 mm )
There are more similarities than differences, however this is supposed to b a 1299 site.. If I want to read about the 1199 I would assume I would go to its own dedicated site.

Take a chill Pill Bill .. It's really NO BIGGIE...:D I was just wondering why it is so diluted with stuff from last years model..
If you are going to just talk about all the models together why not just have a Panigale section..?
Of course I came from the Kawasaki ZX10R forum ( I just sold mine) and I am new to the Ducati world.. However in the Kawasaki sites they keep the different generations separate so we don't have to go over stuff that does not apply to the newer bikes etc.

Sorry If I upset you..

I certainly meant no disrespect..

Speedy

But there is a separate 1299 section . . . the thread you are posting on just happens to be on 1199 specific aero kits and posted in the 1199 section of the site :)

On a general note, I have been a lurker on this site from 2013 and an owner from late 2014 and I have picked up so much valuable knowledge and experience whether directly or indirectly from Gunny and all of the other guys that have been on here since the beginning.
Now the 1299 is out I also dip into that forum page from time to time too.

Where You Been Speedy?

Hey Speedy!

Ive actually been waiting for you to respond and am very happy you did!
First off- I have taken my "Chill Pill" before replying to you and unfortunately its not Bill.

Secondly - I truly appreciate the words within your reply and I also meant no disrespect toward you when i wrote that. I also couldnt agree with you more that each model bike should have its own section for obvious reasons just as you encountered. Matter of fact, after reading the post before mine here by ChicagoSammo, I actually had to open the website up and look at it from the "Forums" point of view to see what he meant too! There is in fact different sections for each model bike listed on that page layout -

HOWEVER----------If you are like me, you usually just keep hitting the "New Post" link to keep bringing up the most recent topics of discussion, and look thru the titles that way before clicking on a thread which interests you?
Trouble with that (I even find myself in same shoes as you) is that you may be reading about a topic which has to do with a model year which your bike is not, or something your bike may not even have on it. In that case I have to look all the way over to the right and see what "Forum" the topic falls under. Know what I mean? It looks like this below:

Therefore, I apologize if my BOLD words came off too strong and as if i was talking down to you man. Its all good with me and I couldnt agree more with you about your suggestions when it comes to how Forum sites should be organized! VERY well said Speedy! Thanks for coming out to reply, as I said I was actually waiting to hear from you my friend.
Anything I can do to assist just hit me up ok? Stay safe!

He's right - should have been named Panigale, but that was taken. Other then prefacing every post with 1199 or 1299, we are doomed to continue this way. It would help if everybody had what they ride in the profile, but you can't make ppl mention 1199 or 1299 in the thread/post every time.

So what about those darned 899 interlopers on here too? And guys like Jarel making weird, unnatural, big-motored Frankengales out of them?

No problem Gunny..! We are good to go! :)

BTW... Do you have a good price connection for the new Akropovic slip on's with the Ducati upmap..? Ducati wants $3800.00 (Which is ridiculous for another 7 hp or so..) However I would like to get rid of the cats and get it running a little cooler and also maybe get it running a little smoother on the low end below 4000 rpm... don't see how spending $5k on an exhaust would ever be worth it unless I was in SERIOUS competition.. I asked a tech at my local Ducati shop how many people bought the new Akro full exhaust and he said NONE.. unless they financed it in with the bike..!

Ducati really has up by the short hairs when it comes to buying non Ducati exhausts etc.. Without the correct map a new pipe will not necessarily improve the rideability/and or offer more horsepower and torque.
I have seen guys in the past put on a new aftermarket exhaust and actually lose horsepower LOL.. I installed a Tailormade GP type exhaust on my old 2008 Honda CB1000 track bike.. It looked great but lost 7 hp on the top end and it sounded like the exhaust was running through a big hollow beer keg LOL.. Not a good sound to me and it actually lost some HP..So I don't want to spend money just to make it louder.. it is plenty loud enough now stock!!
