Honestly, miss the Analog Dials, esp the RPM gauge.
I don't miss them, even though I am typically sceptical about the relevance of new technology.
IMO the only part of the tacho that's relevant is the rev limit, or the red zone on the old tachos. The lead up to the red zone is irrelevant and of little to no use as one typically rides by the feel of how the engine is running anyway.
With these higher reving modern engines that are lightning fast and smooth through the revs until they hit an imposed rev limit, it's not necessary to worry about the revs you are actually doing.
I'm glad about the new technology. They even use the same technology in the latest aircraft for a number of very good reasons.
IMO based upon 30 odd years of experience, the only legitimate/practical application for an analog display is on a wristwatch. I should also add that i've got rid of my mobile phone out of my life.
I especially like the way the rev limiter warning lights work. IMO it couldn't have been done better from a practicality point of view
Also the contrast change for day/night is superbly practical.
I believe the colour display is almost a necessity for assisting with navigation of the complex menu functions, and on that basis alone it precludes it from being a novelty factor.
And the display is more visible than anything digital that's come before it, to the point that any deficiencies with sunlight hitting it are almost inconsequential.
Cheers
