I sense some partiality there. I mean really Hayabusa? Daytona?? Cars, Boats, Planes, bikes have all been Daytonas. Its played out and boring. Oh well. Should have been on the list

Panigale
Triton
Commando

Just to name a few

I like the Daytona name..probably because I really like that bike...

"Ducati’s naming record hasn’t been great. Most of its bikes get confusing three-digit titles that may or may not relate to engine size, and those with names have included rather weak ones like ‘Paso,’ undecipherable ones like ‘Desmosedici’ and ‘Panigale’ and simply unsuitable ones like ‘Bronco.’ But Monster is such a great name, and so simple that it’s amazing it hadn’t already been snapped up and trademarked by someone else before 1992."

Don't take this the wrong way as I personally don't have an issue with the name, but Panigale refers to a suburb of Bologna and is about as imaginative as Chevrolet Malibu or Chrysler New Yorker.

Fireblade, unquestionable number one.

However, what about nineonesix ????

I'm not surprised that Panigale isn't there just like all of the Ducati SBK names. That's like saying Ducati San Francisco if it was manufactured in NorCal. Boring!!

Numbers and named after a town are basic but when you name a vehicle model, you give it some soul.

Japan is known for naming their vehicle, giving them an identity. Fireblade, Hayabusa, Ninja, along with their cars, Skyline, Fairlady Z, Soarer, Silvia, Efini, Supra, Starlet, Sprinter etc. Just like Lamborghini and Ferrari, give them some names.

No one who ever stops and talks to me about my bike has a clue its a suburbs name in Bologna... I think that "ignorance" is common and therefore the Panigale name works well...You are being too harsh IMO...

I don't see how Panigale really fits...

Naming vehicles after places and people is common. Moto Guzzi Stelvio ( after the alpine Stelvio pass), Ferrari Modena (town where they're made), Pontiac Le Mans, etc.
The only name I ever had an issue with is Ninja, Japanese for assassin, which never sat well with me having grown up in an era when bikes were referred to as murdercycles.
