How do you tell?

Everything on the bike is factory apart from the fairings and tyres, looks more for promo display.

Check my avatar, similar to the bike run in superstock. Expect next years WSBK to have Althea racing colour scheme, headlight stickers and a lot of carbon!!!

Says right on the side! I know this, because I took the picture of it at MotoGP

I took pictures of the same bike at Indy.

I agree, it was pretty much all stock. I doubt it's anywhere close to what they will use for SBK.

Here is my pic, as well as pictures of all the Ducati race bikes that were lined up at Ducati Island, for your enjoyment :D (with the exception of the 1199S, because I ran out of uploads, but I'm sure we've all seen that one)

Yes, yes it will. But only because there is no actual RS to refute your claim. :p

Well Thats it then, I'm gonna do it then!! I will own the first RS in the UK

Oh, that's when the dealer has fixed my Oil Leak! After 468 miles; very temprementle the RS is you know!

Checa said in an interview that it doesn't yet have the speed needed to be competitive in WSBK. I hope they find it over the winter!

Was he talking about the 1198? If he was I am sure that with the weight penalties and restricted air boxes there is little more that Ducati can do to develope the bike older bike any further.
Step in the Panigale....it's been running in World Superstock and has been doing very well. The new bike that they will be running in WSBK I am sure will be very competitive. The old bike (this seasons 1198) is lacking straight line speed but the Panigale I'm sure will be up there!

It was during an interview about his 1198 yea. He said that it was too slow etc etc, and when asked about the panigale next year, he said that it wasnt quite there yet and that they will keep working on it.

Troy Bayliss has already tested next years WSBK bike and said it was the fastest thing he had ridden but they where still trying to work out how to get all that power to the ground.

I believe this what Checa was talking about as well.

Maybe the 1199 L would be more appropriate. And make a statement too

i believe with sufficient time spend on the bike they would sort it out...but provided the tyres supplied to them during race is just as consistent.....but rain/shine...more variable to consider...

When I saw it at Indy I think the only thing different from an S was (as mentioned before) the bodywork and the tires.
