Guys,

Panigale V2 is my first sports bike and I use it on the street only. I have three issues with this bike and yes it is not related to heating :)

1. In slow speed corners(Especially on twisties while going uphills) when I am in 1st or 2nd gear it gives jerks and I feel as if it will die on me. Because of this, I have to press clutch a lot. Is this normal with Superbikes? Is it because of new emission rules? Will it change if I put an exhaust?

2. This bike has a lot of engine braking. Is it normal?

3. I am unable to grip the tanks with my legs. My legs touch the mid-fairing (see photo below). Do I have to put adjustable foot pegs?

Btw I love this motorcycle

Thanks for the help in advance.

These are 3 known “issues” for the twins.

1) They don’t like to be ridden at low revs.

2) The bike’s EBC is also inadequate for my tastes most likely due to the high compression. I found it too aggressive even at its minimum setting. Apart from a tune nothing will fix it.

3) Rearsets may help but it’s a consequence of the narrow tank. I’d do tank pads first and then rearsets if that doesn’t sort it. Next would be a tank extender.

Everything you’re stating is normal. First gear and low revs dont go well together. I used 1st gear on my 899 for take-off and then im higher in the rev range. If I’m puttering around slowly I’ll be in second gear or have to modulate the clutch in 1st.

V-Twins have a lot of engine brake. Put the EBC on 3 to MINIMIZE engine brake. It will still be more engine brake than your typical 600 but I’ve grown to love it. I use the brakes a lot less than my R6.

Lastly, though I’ve never ridden a V2; I think the tank design is terrible on my 899. If the tanks are similar i have the side problem. My tank grip does not meet my thighs lol. Solution would be either the Race Seat (I have one but haven’t swapped mine yet on my 899) or adjustable rear sets to bring your knees up.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for info mate. This is really helpful

1-does not like low revs, goes jerky
2-get it to ebc 3
3-tank is narrow, tankpad is useless

As others have said, you can adjust engine braking.
Also - I too find my knees gripping the middle fairing-so I put my tank grips there.
And also - low revs makes for a snatchy ride. This is somewhat ameliorated by going +2 on the rear sprocket. Now pulls at idle revs in 1st gear no issues. Yes-you lose some top end but how often are you doing over 160mph?

Which tank grips are you using for mid fairing?

The jerkyness was fixed by the upmap when I put on the full exhaust. Thats the biggest difference I noticed apart from the noise lol

I agree with all others on their comments. I use Techspecs tank grips, which include pieces for the black section below the tank. I grip with those lower pads when straight-line braking and use the tank grips when leaning over. I also use a tamed down rider mode when I have lots of parking lot or stop-n-go traffic, which greatly reduces the jerky throttle. Throttle spacers also helped me (some people don't like them), but sometimes second gear is your friend on these twin motors. I sometimes run a -1f, +1r sprocket setup or at least a -1f, so things are always a bit lively.

sorry quick question what boots and kevlar jeans you have. They look good and match the rossi well, which I'm getting if it ever comes in, have deposit on one

Both boots and Jeans are from Indian brand.

Boots are from a company called BBG(Biking Brotherhood):142 US Dollar and Jeans costed me 64 US Dollar
