Tell me how safe this is again?

It's as safe as can get with modern technology, sans training wheels.

Lol mate, you can build the safest bike in the history of the universe and there'll be some bloke who figures out how to crash it inside 5 minutes.

We get you don't like the V4, but this is like hating on it for having 2 wheels. :p

I'm not hating, I was taking the piss. Claudio himself said at the unveil (along the lines of) 214 bhp is now accessible in complete safety.

I just find it funny for the same reason you stated. Humans have an uncanny ability to raise the bar in engineering excellence, but even more so in how to be a f*ckwit.

all good jokes require a bit of truth and for sure irony -yours definitely qualifies .

I valeted my car this summer and only one of the people parking cars could drive a manual transmission. most of the gen Z population will not consider riding a motorcycle unless it can be operated with a touchscreen from the safety of the living room couch . I'm calling it now predicting that ducati will announce a 2019 panigale with xbox controls mounted on the handlebars . ARAI will announce a man-bunn hole in the new corsair X girl/manbun . :D

Fair enough. Got the impression you weren't too keen on the V4 based on other threads, so it kinda coloured my assessment of your post here.

Claudio, what can I say, he's a character. I respect his passion for these bikes and the brand, even though he tends to let loose with quotable stuff every now and then.

My bad, just moving into my grumpy old man phase in life. Not hating, just sceptical.

He does and that is admirable....... I can see a lawsuit in the distance if someone argued that they took his word for it though

The only qualification necessary to buy a bullet bike is the money/credit. This will always happen, no matter what. This makes for lots of late model low miles parts on eBay.
It is a shame though.

Money can't buy skill and we seen so many people with big bank check wanna buy the most expensive car or bike just to show they can, doesn't mean they could handle it or intend to improve himself to be better rider or driver at all. Ferrari, Lambor all with 4 wheels still write off let alone a 2 wheel mate!

No rider aid will save you (and your unlucky fellow riders) if you are riding like an idiot:

Looks like he got in hot, his rear puckered and instead of trying to make the turn he stoood it up and crashed and took another rider out. So much for all the new nannies saving people.

Yeah it’s a press launch not a race need to be aware of verious rider abilities. I wonder if either will get invited to the next one lol.

I don't think the one coming from behind did anything wrong. Maybe it was very early in the session and there were bunches of riders too close to each other. But other than that why would anybody at so much lower speed stand up the bike??? Are there different groups at press launches? :)

That was a really odd and unexpected crash....Maybe they should ask if people know how to ride first????:eek::p

Yeah, they always preach it's the guy behind that is always at fault.. but honestly felt bad for him when the other joker just hooks right on a left hand turn.

No one would ever anticipate that. That's almost like someone deciding to drive in the oncoming lane then getting hit... He probably heard or saw the big group forming behind and decided to "get out of the way". Worst thing you can ever do. I've taught it over and over to MX students, maintain your line. Number 1 rule. The fast guys will go around, just stay consistent.

Not everyone is immune either.. I've had an instructor, yes instructor, in our L3 advanced/racers group, pull out to the left, with his hand up and off the gas, on COTA's massive back straight. I missed hitting him at 170-180mph by 6-12in, as did a few others. He didn't realize I was passing on the left, which is typical as you come down into the braking zone for the left hander in T12. This was an instructor who is supposed to know what he or she is doing on track.. sometimes people just brainfart and bad things can happen. Luckily most guys involved were skilled enough to react while moving 170+mph.
