Okay so I went to my local shop In fullerton Motorhelmets looking to modified the license plate because after taking delivery of my beautiful Panigale I could not stand to look the OEM license plate holder even my 10 year nephew made fun on the thing its so hideous, let's get to the point.

I bought a r1 fender kit from the shop for $50 bucks
2 nuts and bolts from the home depot and and the ugly towing hitch was gone, btw removing the stock fender its a piece of cake it only has 4 screws wow!!!!super easy!!! here are some pictures I took for your guys!!!! for your viewing pleasure

wow! great find! So you didnt have to drill any new holes in the mounting plate then? How come you had to buy new hardware and not use the existing ones? I assume the length?

Question: Is there space on the mounting hole section of the plate to drill two more new holes to mount where the rear pegs go?

It would be awesome to switch locations on the fly when going from mom to bi postal.

thanks for the share btw!

* wait... what are you using for turn signals in the rear then? jw.

No drilling is necessary the holes from the plate fit perfect
I need it new bolts because of the length
I did not attempt to put the licence plate where the rear pegs go
The turn signals I bought are LEDs but they did not work
I'm going to purchase turn signals that aren't led I think the led turn signals didn't work because of voltage reason
Overall this plate makes my beautiful pani look awesome

Nice work! I was thinking about making one just like this....but I might order this set up. Also just a heads up, your LED's may have worked if you started the bike. Someone somewhere posted something that you can't just turn the electrical system on to get new LED's to work...they messed with it for 10 mintues because they thought they wired it up wrong. They said you have to actually start the bike and have it running for the electrical system to get new LED's to work as turn signals in the back.

Any chance you can take some more pictures? From the side?

I don't want to worry you, but I had this bracket on my 2010 R1 and from wind hitting it at speed, and vibration the part you mount the plate two actually separated and flew off the bike. Just a FYI

Had exactly the same issue on my 998.
Broken off where the 90° angle is made

I'll take some pictures from the side later and thank you for the tip for the turn signals I will try to do that and post my report.

Oh that was probably me the guy who spent a good 15 min wondering why my LEDS didn't work until I start the engine ;-)
After 2 months, I'm still amazed that sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't while the engine is off (probably a voltage thing)

but it always works with engine on: (and here is my setup as you seems to like the "minimal" look)

As a side note, nice job but you should protect the "hole" where the wires goes under the seat. If you drive on a wet road you will get lost of water near the BBS, blinkers and license plate connectors and that could get ugly.

I did it the lazy way by "tinkering" the OEM part of the licence plate hanger but you should just put waterproof 3M on the inside of the tail

LEDs are also polarity sensitive, so if you've wired them "backward" they won't work. A diode (the D in LED) is the electronic equivalent of a check valve....it only lets current flow one way.

Just a Thought

I used these Ducati LED lights on my DP tail tidy and they are stock plug and play. May not be as small as you wanted but dont require anything as far as cutting or splicing. I do like the look but am concerned about what was said about it flying off! Very odd how that can happen!

I certainly liked this too. I went with this (DP + Euro Signals) until I see something better. I want an integrated tail light and the Rizoma plate holder when it comes out.

Light Werkes or Clear Alternatives will likely produce one soon.
