What an amazing bike. Set off in rain mode and thought this is what an 899 feels like. Shortly after I put it in sport and wow, it pulls like nothing I've had before. I'm worried for my licence.

Seat seems more comfortable than 899. Suspension seems more compliant. Screen does a better job of keeping the wind off.

Have two queries already:

Slipper clutch, is it supposed to be hard to get an easy get away. My 899 was so easy in comparison. I guess I'll get used to it.

Paddock stands, do you guys go with the Ducati offering and would a 1199 one fit?

Congrats. They really are great bikes. Love mine.

Launching a 1299 is a little challenging due to the RBW throttle and mapping I suppose. It does get easier with time though. I've been riding 25 years but still killed mine twice when I first got it. Have 900 miles now and it's either adjusted to me or I've adjusted to it, probably the latter, but no issues anymore.

And the 1199 stand should work. I'm using my DP 1098 stand that I bought in '08 and it's a perfect fit.

Good luck, have fun, and safe riding.

welcome and congratulations!

as for the stands, there are a number of vendors out there:

PitBull

T-Rex

...

Welcome and congrats on the 1299. I use the Pit Bull stands myself and the 1199 stands should work fine.

Another beautiful base model - we are just as fast as S (and R, on the street) guys for $6+k less ;)

No cables hanging off the shock or the triples either

What is your problem with the 1299 on pulling away? I have a 1199 Tricolore and have never had a problem starting off. There is an abundance of torque and I often have a passenger on the back.

Slipper clutches don't "slip" on output shaft torque being created by the engine, only on feedback from the rear wheel transferring force back up through the drivetrain.

Correct me if I'm wrong...

It's definitely not a lack of torque. I think it is just the fueling down low and something in the electronics (RBW, ECU). Like I said, it does get easier or you just eventually figure it out. I could really tell when I first got it, but don't even think about it now.

I concur. I'm positive it's not a characteristic of the slipper clutch. That thing seems to work better than anything else on the bike. Will never own a bike without one again.

Definitely learned how much of a luxury it is after riding bikes without them and then bikes with them...

Hi Dave , I also had a 899 and due to pick up my 1299 base shortly, they have just been unloaded from the ship

Such a beautiful bike... Everytime I see a picture I hate my back for not letting me buy one.

Yeah I take it in on Friday for the first service. So far it's been perfect in comfort and riding but it's not a Ducati. The bike itself looks good up close but the headlights just fubar what could have been a much better looking bike.

LOL - those Beemer headlights, love em or hate em, I kind of like the berzerk look...but it's not quite the lady in red ;)

Plus the Ducati is so much slimmer than the BMW. I put on some tech specs today and Rode into work. It felt like I was riding some fat chick lol

My 1299 is much more comfortable than my 2013 s1000rr. The pegs being further back really helps. I'm 6'3, 215 so I appreciate the leg room. Also the flat tank makes it comfortable to lay on when I'm tucked on a long commute. Overall, I'm really happy with the ergos for my body type.
