btw, this is a courtesy bump to reminder everyone to check/tighten those fairing screws. i checked mine today and while i'm about to lose them, they were not a tight as they were last year and every one of them (at least the smaller ones) could use a 1/4 or 1/2 turn.

Yeah, windshield bolts might slip past some of you. I checked yesterday, and all four were a little loose.

Now you guys got me thinking. I just picked up my bike 2 days ago, going to check screws/bolts over before my next ride.

Common occurence on twins, but a little blue will do the trick. :)

Cheers,

Road for 2 hours today in northern NJ. 1 hour up and back. When i got to my destination i noticed something that pissed me off. My key guard was missing a bolt. There are 4 of them 2 up top which catch the threads and 2 that go into the air ducts that have threads. well one of the 2 big ones right by the key was gone. So of course i checked the rest of the bike. All 3 bolts to the heat shield screws were gone too. the only thing that kept the heat shield on was the o2 sensor.
Any bolts that i took off changed or touched myself were all loctited down with blue loctite and were fine. of course these other bolts did not have loctite.

Also my mirrors were getting loose and the bolts under the rear cowl were a little loose.

do yourself a favor and check these often. i took the toolbag out and tightened everything for the ride home.

Well even after tightening every week I managed to lose the lower right fairing bolt next to the rear brake. I was able to zip tie it down last night for my ride today.

So I come home from my ride, and I randomly see my missing bolt on the ground. Got lucky!

Maybe I should add some blue loctite?

takes some time but needs to be done every i have blue everywhere. damn bolts get expensive. key guard big screws actually they arent screws they attach to the screws that come up the 2 right by the key. i lost 1 . 8 bucks. i lost all 3 to the heat shield etc etc.

I tried blue on my header shield, did not hold. Moving up to red, and if that doesn't work green. Then what? JB weld?

yep, a watchfull eye revealed a loosening of the DP rearset (the part you stand on).. not good..

I was riding around Reagan National Airport on Saturday and suddenly couldn't up-shift. Stopped and checked only to find out the bolt that tighten the shifter with the engine gear rod was completely out. It was still there because the oil fluid hose trapped in from falling off. The thread is damaged. I need to bring it to the dealer to fix.

I wonder if anyone have had any unreachable bolt come loose like on the engine or something?
I did a retightening exercise yesterday at 1K miles and found quite a bit of body related hardware loose, even the ones that hold my Evotech radiator guards.
Windshield, side mirrors, fairings, engine heat shield covers at the knees, seat.
panels above the forks inside the front wheelhouse.
Check anything you can reach!
