Sorry to hear man. 3 months of Panigale ownership and you're off to an R6? All that work to quit?

You do realise that a properly sorted R6 will lap quicker than 99% of Panigale owners will ever manage?
It's a good choice for a race only bike - especially if, as the guy says, he can;t afford to be binning a Panigale over and over. It will be more enjoyable not having to worry about the repair bill every time

At Calabogie last Monday into turn 8 had a brain fart missed my tip in, realised it, tried to pick up the bike aimed as straight as I could for the grass, as soon as I hit the grass I went down, probably at 65-90 KMH, bike has full Armour Bodies race body work, Sato frame sliders, Woodcraft rear sets Woodcraft clip-on's and Sato frame sliders, Pazzo sorties, G.B engine covers.

I went down on the expensive side (1199 S) left side, damage..... the sato frame slider big mushroom bolt bent but did not break, the rest of the slider was ok no damage, the engine case covers held up no problem, the left clip-on bent at about 50 degrees outward, did not break, Pazzo's untouched, the wood craft rearset bracket broke clean off not the frame piece the piece that bolts to the frame piece the peg did not shear off? The double bubble smoked screen shattered, The seat unit took most of the force of the low side, still repairable, bad news....the upper fairing stay broke in half and the lower triple broke off the left steering stop.

The bike was about 25 feet from the edge of the track when we stopped moving, looks like is span around which is why the bar was bent outwards, did not touch my helmet, there were grass stains all over the back of my brand new suit.... no damage though.

The body work was repairable $200, the lower triple $555, upper fairing stay $285, new bolt for frame slider $2,00, rear set bracket $85, new screen $100, I have to put the forks on a jig and check they are true, apart from that I think that's all"¦.. got trapped under the bike banged up my left knee and upper thigh strained my groin, pull my left shoulder"¦a week later starting to walk better!
at least the bike will be ridable again who knows if the damage would have been any worse without the Sato sliders ?

Me on a "properly sorted R6" will be slower than on my Panigale. Rossi could beat me around a track on a 250cc dirt bike.

He can do whatever he wants, I couldn't care less. Im just happy he's ok.

I got beat 32 years ago on a 750F Honda by a 13 year old kid on an 80cc dirt bike..... his name is John Kocinski. And that is a true story! We were both taking a rider school together.

Don't want to totally go off topic - sorry to hear about your Ducati Gatti. Glad you are keeping as good of an attitude as you can. I think the R6 is a great plan. Best of luck.

Then we agree :p
You did suggest he was quitting though - which it's not - it's a good decision given the circumstances!

I'm waiting to say too much until its totally settled with the insurance. Better safe than sorry.

Foremost is officially covering my accident. I had it in writing they would before the accident but still this makes it official. They won't cover competitions or times events which mine was neither. Here are pics of gear and a few of the bike damage. Lowside was on the right. Helmet mark is from the bike hitting my head on the left side. I'm not sure how that happened as I don't remember it (might have had a slight concussion).

Pre crash just enjoying the bike

If you look close you can see the rear sprocket dug into the swingarm bc the swingarm is actually tweaked a tiny bit

Boot that slid under the bike

Helmet, no other marks besides light scratches

Right side of suit. Leg held up well but my right knee puck from chicken hawk popped off probably from the pressure of the bike on my leg. It left a bruise from knee all the way down to my ankle on my shin. Still is sore actually.

Edit bahhhhh I've upgraded and its still not working. Check back in a few I guess:/

foremost covers track days.

That's what insurance is for...most insurance companies cover track days (except racing) and anything on the street. Honestly, I wouldn't want to ride a crashed Panigale again anyway, too many unknowns there especially with the monocoque design.

Most insurance companies cover track days? What state do you live in?? So far I have found zero in Michigan that will even touch a track day (even if it's a non-timed event).

I think most people have false expectations of what a frame slider will actually do. The only decent ones I've ever seen were the ones graves motorports makes for the rsv4 (had em on mine), they actually are aerodynamically shaped, so as opposed to those big nobby things which are sure to catch on the track, these tend to slide over. As a recall the rsv4 fitted with these tend to crash well, if such a thing.

I think at best, a typical frame slider MAY reduce damage for a tipover and nothing more.

I'm also not a big fan front and rear axle sliders either for that matter.

Front axle sliders are money. Been down enough to know it. I also don't like protruding sliders, they catch when they leave the pavement and bad .... happens.

I ran my race bike with stubby under fairing frame sliders which worked a treat.
