Gday,

Im looking to buy a 1098R in the following weeks. Few quick questions
What extra goodies did this come with over the S model that will help me determine what's original and what's not?

What identifying features are on the frame/motor etc that distinguish it from an S

Also, what are some things i should look out for in regards to problems when inspecting the bike.

Thanks in advance

R should have a marked upper triple clamp. Otherwise mostly a 1098 S with different valving in the forks and the 1198 motor. Lightest bike over 1000 cc that Ducati ever delivered other than the SL's. Just beware that the 1098R cams are completely unique so valvetrain parts may be an issue in the future. I think the 1098R's will become ultra collectable as it's the fastest superbike prior to the electronic throttle valves and all the other electronics. These have 24 degree heads and 96 mm trail so they're twitchier than your 1299 and probably wheelie even easier. Really fun to ride. A good one will make 105 ft/lbs.
