My neighbor complaining about fuel smell so I'm going to put evap back on. Im very good about not overfilling fuel but I do wheelies.... that might send fuel into canister. Anyone have an opinion or another option for fuel smell problem?

I pulled the evap can on all my Ducati's and don't have a fuel odor issue on any Are you sure that is what is causing smell...did you plug all the correct hoses?

My garage is adjacent to her bedroom. But, i wondered as well if she is smelling something else... ie funny tobacco from another neighbor, not me.

I have an 1199s Tricolore. I believe the original dealer removed it. I purchased this garage queen with it removed already. The line going to the throttle body is plugged. The other is open to air (from tank). I don't think that line should be plugged otherwise the tank would pressure up. Am i wrong?

Maybe you should go in her bedroom to see if you can smell the gas, too.

I’d tell her she full of ..... If you filled it up in the garage and overfilled it.. abs it ran out on the floor, maybe she smells it...but that’s it

Having a vented tank (that’s not running thru charcoal filter) you can fill a metal shipping container (like you see on trucks trains ships) w fuel smell so bad you won’t even be able to go inside. Happened to me before.

Put a bolt in the vent hose after you ride it and try not to forget to take it out before you do

Maybe I'll use a used foam ear plug.

Garage is finished and fairly well sealed. Stays warm in winter and not too hot in summer. But there are probably enough gaps that could let the fumes enter.

Ive been using ethanol free. Maybe, i also have injector orings that shrank so im going to use fuel with ethanol as that will swell seals back up.

I really have no issue putting the canister back on. I don't overfill.

Note: fuel is exiting the vent line. I noticed some gummy residue and now that i think of it must be fuel. The exhaust heat probably making it eventually turn to gum. Ive also had riders behind me mention the smell but ive been attributing it to the full race exhaust that the tricolore comes with. Wheelies and hard acceleration makes the smell worse apparently.

Not doing wheelies is not an option!!

Make a catch can

Put a real vent with a check valve

Lots of options

No way I would ever use intake runner to supply vacuum for the stock canister

Got a used canister and bracket. Installed today. Couldn't test since it came late in the day and it's raining.

Tank holds pressure and everything checks out otherwise.

Odd thing is there were a few drops of fuel in the line going to throttle body. I guess if fuel gets dumped in there it has no way out since it was plugged.

Anyway, I'll update if I can on odor and if i get starting issues.

Starting stalling stumbling

I know someone that had serious mid temp starting issues until he removed it. If the bike wasn’t stone cold or above 150° it did not want to start! And he didn’t do wheelies. You said it yourself there was fuel in the vacuum line. NFW

Good luck

Mine just stalled today down shifting in 2nd going 50. Thought that was odd. This is the wrong thread, but I guess I'll put this on the list of things to do. Where is the best thread on that?

There is not much to it. Once you see it and trace the hoses it is self explanatory. Y for the vents and plug both vacuum lines

Rode 160 miles today. No issues after putting evap back on regarding stalling or hard starts. Temps in the 60F's and windy so didn't really ride any wheelies. Took maybe 6 breaks and started perfectly everytime.

No gummy stuff on the side of bike today.

Didn't have anyone behind me so can't say if fuel smell for other riders is better. Don't like when anyone follows me, way to many riders have gone off road behind me.

I noticed that ethanol fuel does have more torque. Seems to run cooler as well compared to the non ethanol.

Will need a warmer day to really say about engine running and evap issues. Im sure it takes a while for canister to flood engine.

E85 is more rich than pure gas at its proper stoi ratio. This is a big reason modern boosted engines can get away with stupid boost levels compared than what they could years ago.

Corn farmers FTW.
