Hi All , Has anyone fitted a quick connector fuel line ? I was looking at it to try and stop that fuel that comes out when you disconnect the line to take the tank off. If you have which one did you go with and was it 5/16?

A guy on here did one underneath the tank, and SBK unlimited did one around the outside of the frame. Not sure which fittings they used unfortunately

I think this is the superbike unlimited one Rick was talking about.

I’m no subject matter expert, but I’m not sure I’d trust either of the fittings pictured above.

I’d look at Staubli or, for a lower priced alternative, Stahlbus.

There are several quality makes of fuel really connectors including the ones used by SBU... which are CPC. These can be brass with quality components and valves inside them, and have been used by major manufacturers like triumph and Ducati for years on the 748 916 996 998 1098 1198 749 999 and so on so they are very much fit for purpose!

In the UK they are supplied by a company called
https://www.tom-parker.co.uk/products/brass-and-plastic-couplings/2/fuel-line-couplings/61/ you can see their catalogue here.

On the ones used by SBU I would of put the green viton seals on for longevity, and their routing was crap but I see why, half a job really.

The problem with the style, location, accessibility and route of the V4 fuel line means its very difficult to use a in line connector, so for the basic ducati wannabe bolt on expert its a awkward job. You can't just get something from your favourite dealer and throw it at the bike!

The better way to do it is to get a threaded aluminium boss and weld it to the area the original outlet pipe emerges from the tank base. Once you've got that you can screw in any angle connector you like to make the route to the T piece.

Get the angle of dangle correct and it clears everything and makes a straight line to the T piece. `removal of the fuel tank is clean dry and much simplified as you just click the connector and lift. No battle negotiating the pipe through the small gap dripping fuel as it goes..

Nice work mate, Thanks for your post.

Imagine Andy writing your installation instructions 😬😥

remove tank
cut off original aluminium crap fuel pipe
clean area to good angle weld on a boss
screw in threaded female connector
cut fuel pipe to length and install male barbed connected
refit to bike....

CPC do do a in line connector but I found it too straight and long to fit neatly within the space. I see that's why SBU did it externally.

I think you could weld to the base of a red tank after all there is not much paint around the base area. and it wouldn't take much to tidy it back up.

the std ally fuel pipe is very thin wall and comes out a funny angle, so you have to be careful where and how much material you remove to leave a flat area to site the boss on to .🤞
