all of a sudden one of the neatest devices known to motorcycling (quick shifter) has decided to respond erratically:

-- i tried using it the same as usual, when it decided to just not respond...when trying to upshift it does not go into the next gear...when it did that (i attempted to confirm and test it out), i brought my heel to the foot peg to get more leverage, and applied more pressure to the lever....sometimes that worked(the next gear would engage).....sometimes it didn't -- then it would also decide to "respond as usual"

-- looking a the rear sets and linkage everything appears normal, and nothing looks loose.....anyone know if there is something specific to look at ?

Sorry to hear. The sensors in quick-shifters are notoriously fragile, and the 1199 vibrates more than most. If everything looks normal and it's intermittent, sounds like you've got a warranty item.

...i like it so much, i'm ordering a back-up sensor/switch/quick shifter assemblage connecting device thingy -- damn.....it's $345 for that thing !

-- can it be over ridden by installing a bazzaz unit ? :)

Bazzaz appears to have the Panigale-specific Z-Fi TC/QS module available, so I would say yes. My Bazzaz Z-Fi TC/QS on my R1 never gave me trouble, but it's only warranted for 1 year, and replacement sensor rods are actually about $100 more than the replacement Ducati DP part

If its partially working and not working - then its probably something to do with the shifter unit. If its not working at all - then it could be related to the CanBus or clutch switch. If the clutch switch isn't working - then the QS also doesn't work. Don't ask how I know this. . .
