Quick throttle for 2018 V4s

Help Support Ducati Forum:

I ordered from motostorm last year. Looking at my order history on their site it was this version

DM-4079.03.13-01 DOMINO RBW ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL DUCATI V4

Works perfectly (2018 bike)
Thank you, super weird everyone including manufacturer is convinced otherwise.

I'll chase it down and buy it. Just need to find one.

OK I got the domino throttle on hand. If it weren't 110 degrees and garage wasn't full of other stuff, I would have installed it already. I will install soon and report back.

Another option to get a quick action throttle on all the current V2 and V4 bikes is to reprogram the ECU to earlier detect full throttle. In combination with adding a mechanical stop in the twist grip housing you get a real quick action throttle.

The quick action throttle is great but in my experience (as little as it is) at the track, you want that happy place between short turn and long turn….the stock turn distance isn’t good for quick easy modulation of the throttle, but if you make the turn too short it gets very difficult to finesse the throttle, and you get choppy acceleration.

Doing the way you describe is cool, but I’d want to somehow make the throttle stop adjustable so one could find the sweet spot for the individual.

In my experience we at talking in the range of 5 to 10 % of reduction in turn distance to satisfy the improved feel of a quick action throttle. The mechanical stop can easily be modified in that range and programmed accordingly.

What's custom about it? Bren and SLR use the same Dimsport interface. You've posted in a few threads hinting and things you can do and change. Maybe you should just make a thread about the device and what it can do.

Of cours the flasher is not custom as you correctly noted. It is a device for end customers to flash their bike hence customer flasher.

What is custom are the map modifications. I will put together a thread soon posting all the different modifications that can be done. Thanks for the hint.

I had a quick action throttle programmed in on my V4R by SLR with one of these DimSport devices. Works well and was done as part of the full ECU flash.

And, you're probably talking about 5 degrees?

Yes. But most people are after exactly the reduced travel so they do not have to twist their hand as much. Just programming it electronically without a mechanical reduction sounds a little counterproductive.

What are you hoping to achieve with a QAT?

My goal, is to get to full throttle as quickly as possible.

And, I want as small a chance as possible, of anything jamming my throttle.

A jammed open throttle is counterproductive.

Of course the goal of a QAT is to get to full throttle quicker. At the same time have a reduced travel so you do not have to twist you hand as much. If you are happy with just having earlier full throttle and a dead band in the end that is of course fine. But most peoples expectations would be to not have to twist their hand as much anymore also.

I think you may be looking for a solution to a solved problem Deussen…as I think about it the throw of the turn is good as is so I don’t have to twist my wrist as far to get to full throttle, but better finesses and modulation would be useful, to that end I think what would help would be a throttle grip with a significantly higher circumference.

I bigger grip would aid in smoother modulation combined with Quickturn
