Dear gents
I'm thinking of replacing the brake calipers on my 1199 that shall "slowly" be converted into a track bike. I'm happy with the OEMs M40, but one of them is pretty scratched.

I think kope made some expiriences with aftermarket products in 2013. Lot of things changed since then I guess.

I like the look of the Brembo GP4 RX CNC P4 32/32 Radial Calipers but I am not sure whether they really fit and I also read that they are not recommened if the ABS unit is still in the braking system.

What would you consider to install?

Sorry speedy14 for keeping the 1199 section alive :)

i would take them off, polish them and gold plate them.

oh wait, you're a weight loss fetishist... replace them with carbon fiber calipers :D

sorry for not having a qualified answer

aaahhhrgggg....
you got me, I never understood naming conventions of brembo products.
and the M50 works great, never had any issues.

But you guys behave like my mother. Start behaving like a salesman :)
Actually you wouldn't believe, I went to THE Ohlins sales represantative here, and he just nodded his head and had no clue.

If you had one wish for free from the panigale braking fairy, what would you say to her?

I'm running the Brembo GP-4RX Nickel with Brembo T-Drive rotors, EBC EPFA pads, and the Billet 19x20 master cylinder. If I was racing, I'd switch the pad to a more aggressive one but the EPFA pads work well for track days, long life and they're easy on the rotors.

For a race bike i would run the GP4-RR they are monoblock light weight and stiffer vs the 2 piece GP4-RX. I had the GP4-RX on my 1199 and they were great but it wasnt a race bike.

I'm very sorry guys! My appologies.
Went thru all the threads and google'd for this topic and tried to get a bit more informed.
I realised that chosing the proper braking components is a science for itself.

Thank you all for your input.

As far as I understand now, changing the calipers to other piston diameters without adapting the master cylinders makes no sense. And doing this without having any influence to the electronics (@jarelj: I am really jealous for your Magneti Marelli ECU) increases the chance to have either ABS or TC malfunctioning.

So I decided to just bling a bike: the SL will get the nickel plated front calipers GP4 RX CNC P4 32/32 and the rear Caliper SuperSport CNC P2 34. Should work with the OEM MCs (even though an US site claims that one could blow the piston's seal, but I think that's crap).

@Claymore: I have the SICOM discs on my Tri. Their weight together with the Rotobox wheels makes this bike handling like a bicycle :)
But I would never buy them again: in wet conditions they are terrible and one disk started to fall apart (little chips just flew out of the disc's surface)
