I think I’ll keep stock shock (TTX36) and length. Rick from Graves got back to me and had this to say about spring length which has me a bit perplexed.

From the research I’ve done, the only 51 mm ID spring (21040- series) is 160 mm in length. Once you get into 180 mm in length, the spring ID bumps up to 65 mm.

Yup. Said they don’t do many Ducatis so no experience on their end.

As for answering Andy’s underhanded musing, when you make something easier to adjust you’re more likely to make that adjustment and optimize settings. Breaking out spanners and spending 5-10 mins in the between sessions is the last thing I’d like to do.
 
Once setup properly do you guys find yourself adjusting pre-load often?

This is what I have on my TTX GP, not even sure how to use it because after getting it set up I haven’t had to adjust it lol

You have the wrong hydraulic adjuster. There is one part number which places the adjustment on the left, and one on the right. That looks to be the right side adjuster on an application which needs a left.

The R springs are longer IIRC.

What’s the point of having a hydraulic preload on your shock if you’re not going to use it. Might as well have castle nuts and simplify things. Adjusting preload can be a quick cheap and easy way to change the bike’s geometry and characteristics. Granted you don’t have much leeway (probably +/- 5 mm) but it’s better than nothing. And it’s more a bandaid to see if a setup should be pursued. At least that’s how I’ve used it in the past and what suspension tuners have told me.
 
I think most people have the hydraulic ones because they come with the TTX shock.

I think the overwhelming majority of riders who care or even know about suspension get the sag set and leave it.
