Mugello was about 30% of its normal crazy. I'm glad you got to see it. We had friends have to dump €35,k in food from their restaurant because so few people showed up. They over supplied. Hard to guess after 2 years of shut-down and no Valentino. Lot's of discussion here around this.
It was still an epic time, but usually you can't see the grass for all the people, smoke bombs, flame throwers etc.

@KarlKani did you get to ride at all in Italy? Track or otherwise?

I was listening to a podcast and they thought part of the reason for low attendance was the high cost of tickets. Did they go up this year or maybe it was just an off year.

Yes everyone is talking about how Dorna handled it. How Dorna expressly wants to get rid of all the crazies, and yes they raised ticket prices for only seated sections. The Grass section however, where all the crazies go, stayed the same. So what happened?
"The Talking Helmet" podcast went into to all the speculation and called ......... Then pointed to one thing no one wanted to admit.

~€235. for a seat for 2 days and not much else to talk about of note.
France
€50. and then there's theatre shows and carnival and decent food, music and kids enter free and on and on.
The comparison is ridiculous.

I would say do not compare the feeling off the old bike to the new bike at all. I kept waiting the same front end feel I had on my 959, till one day I realized the obvious... It won't feel the same because its not, now that isn't to say that you can't get a good feeling - but for a while I was comparing the two too literally in my head. But here are some bullet points I would give myself
+Big bikes are very physically demanding
+Get ready to chuck tires at it, edge grip goes pretty quick on big bikes
+Do not think you will drop lap times because you just got 50hp
^^^#1 thing I would say is, get a decent base setting then 100% just work on getting comfortable on the bike, getting used to the power, learn how to move yourself around the bike - this is a whole new procedure. From the time you exit the last corner getting on to the straight if you haven't gotten in a proper tuck (butt up and back, back straight, chin on tank, ends of fingers on tops of bars) you will look // feel like 85% of track day guys on sbks. Which is not a diss, its really hard to do - I am very much still working on it. But the transition from hanging on for dear life to getting comfortable with the speed is huge. I have basically stopped looking at lap times to work on these things to get to a place where the times will drop do to understanding and confidence.

Yeah man I rode... a vespa.

I had an amazing time, but my friends I was there with have been going to Mugello for a while now and they said it was really not as crazy.
